Died at: Cant play same hand twice Boss

I had high level Pairs and Two Pairs.
I could put any crappy pair or pairs down.
I ran into this boss and guess it was my fault for not reading the description before starting it? It wouldnt let me play the same hand twice.
Kind of unfair and was not fun to lose here.
What if there's a boss that only lets you win if you do flush only? Or only straights?
Kind of ridiculous boss to force a loss like this

The eye can be a challenge for some decks (mostly ones that use easier hands such as high card), but it's a completely fair one. With the base deck you should be able to easily make high card, pair, and 2 pair (even on gold stake), so you've got at least 3 scoring hands even with bad draws. Comparable with the needle, which has half the point requirement but only allows 1 hand (not hand type).

so for next time, i should just prepare better by leveling up the pairs and two pairs more?
they were like level 8 and 9, the highest i've ever done but ive only played like 8 hrs.
the game makes you feel like you choose your own play style, but then surprises you by telling you "nope, you should've focused on ALL the hands"

Don't rely too much on planet cards. They can help early on (and with enough of them, the chips are significant later on) but in general your scoring should come from jokers (and sometimes card enhancements, but mostly jokers still).

The trick is learning how to build a set of Jokers that will easily pass the scores without any planet cards.

i thought i had good jokers too,

Random Mult
Lowest held card doubled Mult
Even card mult
And some 50 chips thing cant remember
I guess I just didnt run into any good jokers. I kept eyes on them but didnt run across any that's better than what I had.

Ah so a lot of +mult (in fact 4 of your 5 jokers were +mult jokers) but not much +chips or xmult. Sounds like more of a scaling issue than a specific boss issue. That said, between raised fist and even steven that's a pretty good setup to start making lots of steel cards for the 1.5x mult (yes steel works with raised fist, you just need to rearrange your cards every hand).

Bosses are like that. Sometimes they are a little bit unfair. Now you know what you have to be prepared for.

That's not very likely. I reckon you're playing on the easiest difficulty level (White Stake), which is winnable every time. Or at least almost every time. No one has been able to find an impossible seed on that level so far. (There's a thread here for difficult seeds.)
