Getting to the final boss is a good sign. It looks like you were only short of violet vessel's high target by roughly a factor of 2 (meaning 1 more uncommon joker would've won it). Just stick to the fundamentals: get +chips, +mult, xmult, and even more xmult, try to scale as many of them as you can, and try not to rely on lucky draws (e.g. don't commit to flushes or full houses unless you've got a lot of suit/rank changers to accomodate it).
This is something that totally slipped my mind.
I was too invested in mults on this set.
I am not at all a mathematical person so this insight is great! (I usually try to aim for what feels the highest)
