- Aim to have at least a Joker that reliably gives you bonus chips, a Joker that gives you +Mult, and a Joker that has a Times-X Multiplier. It's possible to beat the Ante 8 boss without one of those three types of Jokers, but it's definitely easier if you have them. (Even if you just have, say, a Foil Joker for +50 chips, a Holo Joker for +10 Mult, and a Poly Joker for x1.5 multiplier that's already a nice baseline.)
- Always remember to slide anything that is a Times-X Multiplier to the right most part of its track so that it triggers after anything in the track that gives +X multiples. So a X3 Multiplier Joker so be at the right side of the list, in your hand slide your Steel cards that give X1.5 Multiplier to the right side of the hand, and in your played cards slide your Glass X2 multipliers to the right side before you play them.
- Try to save money up so you can max out your interest (assuming you're not using the deck that has no interest of course). If you have $25 on hand that extra $5 per blind basically translates into an additional upgrade every time you go to the store.
- When discarding it's almost always better to discard 4-5 cards trying for a particular hand than it is to discard 1-2 cards hoping for two or three possible hands. Your probability of getting a card that will improve your existing hand is usually much higher when you draw more cards than when you draw fewer, even if you are "leaving more options open".
- You can definitely beat the first Ante with no Jokers at all, but you should as a rule aim to add at least one Joker per blind minimum if not more to minimize the risk of losing to an unlucky draw. Also, having Jokers to increase your score helps you win Blinds in fewer hands which translates into an extra buck or two per Blind versus having to spend all your Hands every time.
Your first focus is on getting a +mult joker. You dont need to play traditional high scoring poker hands, you need to manipulate your deck to be able to get more easily attained lower ranked poker hands to score higher. Two pair is a popular choice, so are straights and flushes.
Once you have multi, Its important to build chips. You can do that by buying celestial packs or finding + chips jokers. Be wary of celestials, you want to focus on specific hands not spread your planet cards around too many hands.
Then, depending on which hands youve decided to focus on, you manipulate your deck w arcana packs to ensure you get a higher probability to get those hands.
Eventually you want x mult jokers and a way to incrementally grow your base mult and chips with either celestials, arcana, or jokers that change value with certain actions.
These are, of course, personal suggestions and you dont have to do any of this. Other players may have better suggestions. Mainly, i will say, dont be afraid to sell jokers and be conservative at the store and limit yourself to what you really need.
On the interest question, my rule of thumb is if I think I can reliably beat the next Blind or Boss without buying anything and I'm not at the interest cap then I'll save my money. If I think there's a chance I'll have trouble winning though I'll buy an upgrade.
As far as how good the relative decks go, I honestly think you can win with any deck so I wouldn't worry too much about it. But if I had to pick, I'd probably say the Blue deck that gives you an extra hand is a nice flexible one since it's not reliant on any particular strategy to work. (Funnily enough that deck is objectively better in almost every respect to the Red Deck that gives an extra Discard because both decks give you the same number of total plays per round, but the Blue deck is effectively giving you points for one of the plays that in the Red deck would have been a Discard for no points instead. So unless you happen to have a Joker that synergizes with having extra Discards like the one that gives you +40 chips per unused Discard there's no benefit to using the Red deck over the Blue deck.)
Having money in the bank also allows you to pivot or buy emergency jokers/cards when a boss requires you to do so. No money means no escape. More money grants you the possibility to react.
About decks, the green deck is quite different because it doesn't generate interest. Is that good or bad? Well, at least you don't have to bother with the $25 mentioned above, so it's not a bad deck. And the black deck is known as the weakest one, but at low stakes it's not too bad. You'll probably still feel that it's weaker.
Just pick a deck you feel like playing, that simple.

This is a good point for the Green deck. Even though it doesn't earn interest, it still is probably a good idea to try and keep at least $10-15 in hand just in case a Vendor item or Joker comes up that you can see that you'll really, really want.
I'd argue that The Hermit alone justifies planning on exiting all blinds with $25+, with any deck, green included. Enough money to buy an arcana pack and still get a good chunk of money from The Hermit.
But green deck can easily generate 15$ per round with the help of an economy joker, so selecting a blind with about $10 should be okay.
The tips above are good, but I've been resorting to looking at the skip blind bonuses for the first ante and just restarting immediately if I don't like them. Checker deck can get through the first ante by itself without buying anything, so if there's a good skip bonus, I'll pick that and then go through the first anti and hopefully come out with something good and some cash to save up for interest.
Overall I am finding the game is getting far more difficult and annoying at these higher levels because I've unlocked tons of jokers and stuff but most of them are total junk and just clogging up my drop pools. If I don't get a decent +multi joker by the end of ante2 and X+ by ante4 it's basically unwinnable, but my drops are always all trash jokers and planets and the card packs are crazy expensive. I'll even get some good runs going but then just not be able to upgrade anything at all by like ante6 because it's just giving me total garbage, and any cash I've saved up is spent re-rolling trash after trash.
This game is crack at first, but getting annoying at this point with all the garbage drops.

It's faster and easier to just re-roll for a multi/joker/cash than to play through anti 1. I can also guarantee i'll at least SEE them in the shop instead of crappy planets and other garbage.
Indeed. The "real" game begins at purple, the game changes a lot at orange. And if you don't change the way you play, it really is brutal, 100% agree.
Checkered deck is one the most reliable one for the early ante levels, you seem to think the same as I do. That means it's a deck you'll benefit LESS from skipping early blinds. Every time you skip a blind, it's one less opportunity to buy jokers from the shop and/or joker packs.
If you want to keep skipping, do it. I've done both, skipping and not skipping. After a while the results are your best teacher. Turns out skipping creates a lot of problems, 90% of the times.
The less jokers you see, the weaker your joker lineup is on average. You don't get what you wish from the shops you stop at, you panic reroll, even if you hit a good joker you're left with no money, etc. And you lose at ante 3, 4 or 5. Skip less, win more. Especially true for the checkered deck.
What else? Blue stake means 1 less discard. That means big hands of 5 cards are tougher to play constantly. You'll lose from not completing a good hand. Even from not completing a flush with the checkered deck, it's bound to happen. Solution? Play high cards and pairs. You don't even need discards to play those. Suddenly, Stuntman has no downside, same for Green Joker and Blackboard becomes the best xmult joker you'll ever find.
Orange stake makes packs unaffordable. Then what? Not much you can do except to not buy as many packs. That means lower level hands and less enhanced cards. So you have to rely mainly, if not only, on jokers to get good scores. Do you see the bad loop you create by skipping blinds? It's made worse because overall at orange stake, you need much better jokers, but at the same time, you choose to see less jokers by skipping blinds.
Maybe it will surprise you, maybe not, but even level 1 high card is enough to win at any stake. The condition is to have good jokers.
I have no choice but to disagree with you on one thing. The joker pool growing is not a problem at all. Many of the new jokers unlocked are much better than the old ones, others are sometimes pretty bad, true. But heck, Stuntman alone would justify 15 other below average jokers. It wins runs, plain and simple. Once again, what makes the jokers a problem is not how many jokers are in the pool, it's willingly skipping shops and not seeing any joker each time you choose to do so.
I'm not saying winning at orange stake is a walk in the park. But it seems like you are taking the tough road. It's winnable that way too, but odds are it will require many more failed attempts.
Oh and gold stake only makes the high card and pairs options better, relative to other hands. With a hand size of 7, 5 cards hands are pretty much a death sentence, most of the times. So you might as well start to practice high card and pairs at blue stake and higher, where you're already losing a discard.
