steel cards are also important late game. generally it's more about the hand that you level that gives you the most points and not the best hand in traditional poker per se.
There is a blade that kills the joker up to its right and gain double its price as a multiplier. There is a joker that gain in selling price (the egg) at a condition that you can retrigger using other joker. Using this you can use your credits as a way to increase your egg and then give it to your blade to have a beautiful * 1000 mutliplier.
I got the joker that turns cards you score with into gold cards, as well as the double helix. Every time I played one card my first hand I duplicated it. I ended up getting vampire a couple rounds later, and every enhanced card you play gives vampire .2X to your multiplier. I was at 8x with vampire by ante 8, and with a few other decent jokers was able to score upwards of 100k-500k with a high card or two pair, even more with 4 of a kind.
Obviously I got pretty lucky with my jokers, but by building a good econ you can increase your chances of finding what you need.
Keep playing and unlocking more jokers, be flexible in your game plan and try to have multiple combos to rack up points.
I ran flush for awhile until I started winning some runs and unlocking more stuff. The game starts to open up a lot more, but there's still plenty of runs where I lose by first ante. That's just the nature of card games sometimes.
I encourage you to experiment and try different things. After my recent runs, I believe just about any build can be viable. As long as you are getting planet cards for the 1-3 combos you're trying to run, and you have jokers that give chips, multipliers, and xmult, I think you can make just about any of them work to ante 8.
it's so unintuitive that it's the best build lol
gonna try it out
goooood luck. its Cavendish luck to get it. you need a deck full of "Red Seal" + "Steel Kings cards" + "Baron Joker" + "Steel Joker" + "Mime Joker"
To be fair all the hands are likely viable to different degrees, flush is a good one because its a good scoring hand at level 1.
I've got to a high ante with a high card build once because the RNG utterly shafted me, it was pretty decent till I got to the Wall, then I was knackered.
