Buying a buffer joker every round is actually not necessary, as I too thought at first. You can rearrange your jokers at any point in the game, which allows you to put the dagger to the very right before you select the blind, and after that immediantly move it to whatever position gains you the highest overall mult.
Though, this obviously doesn't work in the razor's edge challange, since it's been glued to the left side of the screen :(
Jokers that copy other jokers can be sometimes used in similar ways; temporarily placing Blueprint (copies the joker to the right) next to Porkeo (copies random consumable when you exit the shop), and moving it back afterwards, for example.
And I found Riff Raff in one of my attempts. I was able to use it to summon a new sacrificial joker every blind and keep two others around for actual benefits.
(I still lost)
It works, but in that order I just described. Dagger goes first, then Riff-Raff.
And then you forget to move it when you select a blind, and it kills your polychrome Constellation you have leveled the whole game, which in total gave you 5.7 X-mult...
