Tip for "the needle" boss with "burglar" joker
Obviously jokers like "Troubadour" (+2 hand size, -1 hands per round) are great there. "Luchador" (sell this card to disable the current boss blind) also works.

However one I think most of you don't know is "burglar". The effect is: "when blind is selected, gain +3 hands and lose all discards". You just get 3 extra hands on this boss.

Hmm, I didn't know that, I would have assumed The Needle just sets hand count to 1 regardless of any effects, good to know because Burglar builds would be particularly vulnerable to that boss otherwise.

You only get to play one hand, treat it like you only get to play one hand.

Use every discard, check your draws, calculate possibilities, consider every bonus on your cards and every probability with your Jokers. If you truly do all this correctly and still can't win on The Needle then you aren't at fault and it might have been unwinnable with your deck and Jokers.

I always get afraid on it but I haven't lost to it yet I think.

Also if you have Burglar and you're going to fight that boss? Sell it, you want to save $2 and a few extra hands so you can lose? Be smart.

Your response to a thread telling you how Burglar is very beneficial in this situation is "sell it"?

Extra hands = extra money, so burglar can also be considered a money generator

when you use burglar on this boss, you end up getting to play 4 hands. your initial amount of hands is reduced to 1, and then burglar gives +3 after that, for a total of 4

It's essentially the same but with inferior discard amounts.

yeah i haven't tried it myself, was just explaining their rationale. if you had a build that didn't use discards or something then i guess it's better, idk

I want some of whatever you're smoking. Getting to play four scoring hands is in no way shape or form inferior to having discards, especially on a boss that only requires half the score a normal boss would.

4 hands on a boss that only lets you play 1 hand is a huge advantage over losing 2 discards (at higher stakes). It's also great economy.

Burglar is bad if you upgrade your discards in any way, since burglar always gives the same amount of hands.
