FLINT Blind (Worst Blind?)
IS THIS FLINT BLIND TOO PUNISHING?

I'm not sure if this is just me, however every since the Arm Blind was buffed in our favor (thank god that blind sucked), I can't help but to now focus on the Flint blind (The base chips and Mult for playing a poker hand are halved this round) .

In some runs you can find yourself barely making ends meet for the blinds, which is fine since sometimes you can be really handy with the tarot cards that you use and it makes for a really interesting match. However, when you go against the Flint on these runs you kind of just... lose? There's not really much you can do besides look for a "re-roll blind" tag in the previous blinds.

I'm always up for a challenge. But, this is just a Sisyphus moment that I can't really get behind. But, I'm curious to hear your opinions on this one as well! I'm very much okay with being wrong if you guys have any suggestions.

I swear to god, at some point one of you guys is going to complain that every boss should be removed.
It literally is a minor debuff against planet-focused builds. Nothing else.

flint requires good jokers to compensate for the debuff as they apply afterwards. it is definitely one of the harder bosses.

I have only complained about 1 boss. And it wasn't even a complaint, I just said it was the worst boss to go against. Mainly just voicing my opinions on it.

Now, I'm curious on how you play around this without you kindly stabbing comments at me. Genuinely just trying to learn here. Thanks ?

I haven't figured out how to even get to the 8th ante so to me all the boss blinds are punishing.

so it halves your initial hand bonus, so the level bonuses from planets are severely affected. your jokers can 'repair' this by adding either chips or mult back (bonuses from card enhancements will also be important).

'blue joker' is an easy choice, it gives +2 chips per card remaining in your deck. so unless you've destroyed tons of cards, this will give around 70-110 chips.

any joker that simply adds mult are very helpful (tarot joker gives +1 per tarot card played, abstract joker gives +3 per joker you have, etc)

anything that multiplies your mult (ex: "X2 Mult") can be SUPER helpful, but they don't help as much if your mult is really low. for example, a X2 mult on 3 mult only gives 6 (an increase of 3), but X2 on 10 mult gives 20 (an increase of 10). jokers are played left to right, so make sure you put your "mult multipliers" on the RIGHT of jokers that give "plus multipliers"

don't feel too bad either way, i think this is one of the more difficult bosses, especially if you're still trying to get a build started and don't have many jokers helping out.

Had a good build, just lost to The Flint, now I'm here to mope. I do feel like it was OP but maybe I just needed to switch things up, I don't know.

don't feel too bad, it's definitely one of the most consistently challenging bosses IMO

You may have only complained about this boss, but just wait until you meet the Violet Vessel or Verdant Leaf.

Bosses that anyone has ever complained about (in generally descending order):
- The Wall / Violet Vessel
- The Needle
- The Arm
- The Fish
- The Plant / The Mark
- The Psychic
- The Mouth
- The Eye
- The Serpent

If you're significantly affected by this boss (or the arm for that matter) you're likely relying too much on planet cards and not enough on jokers. Card enhancements can help too, but generally jokers should be the source of most of your scoring.

Here we see someone jumping right into the "nerf every fight until the whole game is a push over".

Honestly yes I boss is a bit on the strong side. People are saying planet builds. but they are ignoring that all xmut is also effected. You need both flat mutt and chips to counter it because of it double tapping you. But after thinking about the wall it would basically be a worse version of that without the double tap.

So many Boss Blinds break so many strategies.

personally I don't like
The Serpent
The Eye
The Fish
Verdant Leaf
The Mark
The Water

I mean honeslty, what are you gonna do anyway if the cards are face down. Yeah sometimes you can guess and when playing checkered deck it's not too bad but if you don't know what you're holding, how are you ever reliably gonna get your poker hand. To me one of the most punishing things. (The Wheel seems fine though.)

I usually like the extra large blinds but not in later Antes. Voilet Vessel really is a ball breaker
