HDR bug
When playing a game in Borderless Mode, I encounter an issue where my screen automatically flashes each time I switch between a web browser and the game. This phenomenon appears as if the HDR feature is being toggled off and then back on, despite HDR being constantly enabled in my Windows 11 settings. Moreover, upon exiting the game, the HDR functionality becomes ineffective. To restore HDR functionality, it is necessary to first disable and then re-enable HDR in the Windows 11 settings.

is anyone has same issue with me ? it possible Windows HDR bug , but not happened in any other game

Yes, the issue was present in the demo as well.

I don't think the dev has the knowledge or skill set to fix this bug.

Sorry, this is late, but yes, Balatro uses OpenGL I believe and that automatically disables HDR.

You can work around this by going into NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > Add Balatro to the list if it's not there already > Select the High-performance NVIDIA processor if it's asking you select something here > Vulkan/OpenGL present method > Prefer layered on DXGI Swapchain.

I hope this fixes it for you!

Tried all this with no success, same exact error.

Absolutely infuriating; just updated my graphics drivers again this week.

Same problem, hoping for a permanent solution from the dev, but for now you can use Ctrl + Shift + Windows + B to reload the drivers. It's quicker than toggling HDR settings.

Yep, thats a problem for me too.

Problem here too. And I'm using the Nvidia App, not Control Panel, so I'm unsure what to change.

Same issue, HDR is bugged in this game. Windowed mode is fine but borderless+fullscreen force HDR off for some reason, causing screen flicker / black screen whenever alt-tabbing.

No, I won't toggle HDR, I don't want to. I want it enabled.

Dev plz fix

EDIT: What Clunk_Westwood mentioned helped as HDR bug / black screen workaround, thanks!

Resolution for AMD gpu users is: launch Adrenalin -> Navigate to Gaming -> Select Balatro -> Enable Radeon Super Resolution -> Set to Enabled Borderless Fullscreen.

This worked for me!

Just wanted to say thank you to Clunk. This worked for me! A few things to note:
- Balatro is not recognized as a game by default. You'll need to find its executable shortcut in the Steam installation.
- It won't take effect until you close the game and reopen it.
- You should have the Nvidia Control Panel app by default if your PC has an Nvidia graphics card.

In my case, I got an automatic pop up that said "Auto HDR" was still triggered, but the flickering went away. Go figure.
