The Pillar is a death sentence
Absolutely loving my time with the game so far! Congrats to the developers for making this amazing experience <3

Currently trying to beat base difficulty with every deck. I got to the Black Deck (-1 hand / +1 joker slot) and have been wildly unsuccessful getting a run to the win. I was just about to my last Ante when I got hit with The Pillar (debuff any cards scored with prior to this Ante). I literally almost have no cards to play.

I understand the nature of the genre and all that, but that Boss Blind near the end of successful run made it impossible to proceed (extra salt in the wound since I haven't found a great way to win with this deck).

I feel like "removes all prior card enhancement for the round," "cut card values in half" or something like that would be more reasonable.

Its one of those YMMV effects where the more hands you play in the ante the worse it gets, if you manage to play only 1-2 hands per blind, or skip blinds, that Ante then its not too bad...the issue comes in Antes where youre barely passing the Chip counts with the given hand limit

Unfortunately, its roguelike, so u will sometimes get those unfair scenarios. For example, i've done build for face cards and got boss with face cards debuff on 6th ante without any chances to prevent that debuff. Instaloss.

The way I passed that one is I only played 2 colors for the 2 previous blinds. So I have 2 colors left to play on the boss blind.

I just skip both blinds for that one and hope for the best, especially if it's early on

Yep, that worked for me as well. Always good to examine the boss blind at the start of the ante and plan accordingly.

You can learn it's the ante's boss before the first ante fight begins. Then evaluate your options.

You could, for example, try to beat the first blind without using your 2-3 killer cards, if your fate depends on it for the boss. Then you can skip the 2nd fight, to save cards.

It's a damage check, not much more. If you need 4 hands of 5 cards to barely survive each of the first fights, then yes, you're in trouble. Sacrifice some economy and utility jokers if you have to.

Good call, there is some menuing stuff I wish was a little more clear. I had no idea you could see that far into the run!

I can't think of the name off hand but I'm also a little confused on what that probability Joker does. It mentions something about increasing listed probabilities but I can't seem to find them

this is def the strat for this boss. looking ahead at the upcoming boss and planning accordingly is super important, as effective strategies for many of the bosses may change how you play the entire Ante, not just the Round (i think I'm using the correct terminology here, lol)

I think this affects things like the Wheel of Fortune tarot card (1 in 5 chance to foil/poly/holo a joker). i haven't tried it yet though, just a guess

I assume you mean "Oops! All sixes" which doubles probabilities. Any card that says "1 in X chance to do Y" gets that 1 doubled, or the X halved if it's divisible by 2. So Wheel of Fortune and various jokers trigger twice as often, but you're also twice as likely to lose a glass card or the banana joker.
