Ever have a sweet build going like you know you basically already won the run then the boss blind comes up and says "hol up"?

I had a Face Card build with the green deck just singing going into Ante 5 boss blind. I had $80 and was pretty sure I had this run in the bag. Scary Face Foil, Smiley Face, Hanging Chad, Photograph etc. I mean it was a thing of beauty.

Then boss blind is like "Nope, all Face Cards Debuffed". No way to reroll it. Then of course I drew the absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hands I could possibly draw and no amount of discard was getting me out of that. I think the blind was only 22,000 which I could have done in one single hand with my build.

Actually got a little heated, ngl

And that is how you should learn that committing to a diamonds only deck is usually a no no if you haven't seen the boss that debuffs diamonds yet. Because it'a a similar situation to what just happened to you.

Don't over commit. Once it's safe, go for it. Whatever "it" is.

Or do over commit and live with the risks. Which often ends with "better luck next time".

I do sometimes feel like the boss-blind re-roll should just be a built in feature rather than a voucher. Maybe even raise the cost to $15 or $20.

This is an extremely common suggestion and one the game could do with, i think $20 makes sense since it causes the voucher to instantly make its money back when used. I mean losing 20$ on a board with all scoring jokers is still crippling, perhaps even comparable to what you might lose to activating something like "The Ox".

If your jokers are strong enough i dont care about debuffed colours.

Debuffed facecards if your whole build is around them is another story..

Both are the same. They are ways to lose. But yes, one is less forgiving.

The idea is you don't need to be countered by every single boss at least once to start doing something about it.
