You can't just release on GoG. You apply to release on there. They have curators who decide if you get on. They deny plenty of games that realistically should fit the criteria they list (like the game I just linked). Balatro fits said criteria a lot less.
If you really want the game on there, you're better off begging GoG instead of here: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/balatro especially since Localthunk doesn't read these forums.
This is unfortunate. Seems like people have begged for the game, but not enough are. I threw my comment in there, but I highly doubt it will do anything.
Steam isn't DRM[community.pcgamingwiki.com] and GOG has games that use DRM[www.gog.com]
Steamworks is what provides DRM as part of it's API on the Steam platform, and this isn't used by most games for sale on Steam.
People are free to use whatever they want, be it GOG, Steam, Epic, Ubisoft Connect, whatever, but they at least should know what they are talking about.
But if you want to play it DRM free, pretty sure that's trivial by just running the game using LOVE. That's the up- (and down-, for developers) side of using Love2D.
Steamworks is a collection of features to integrate into the Steam platform, it is optional for use and includes a feature for DRM which is also optional for use.
Using Steamworks, does not mean that the developer is also using Steamworks DRM
cause I want to.
If you insist on getting an offline installer, go to GoG and protest.
If you're the type of "I don't ever trust devs unless it's GoG", this game isn't for you.
