i learned something interesting for this boss. you can discard 1 card, and it will still draw 3. so if you have 3 discards, discard 1 card each time and you'll end up with a massive hand which I've found makes it pretty easy.

Best advice I can give is look for Jokers that gain power over time (for example, Runner), and try to get an equal amount of buffs to chips and mult (except when using the plasma deck, but that one needs to be unlocked anyways). Additionally, place any mult multipliers (polychrome cards or jokers that have something like "x2 mult" in white text in a red box) to the far right side of your jokers/hand. As for specific jokers, two of my personal favorites are Egg and Abstract Joker, but sometimes things depend on your build.

XMult is very powerful. Glass cards are an easy way to get it, though it happens early in the computation, rather than having it on a joker that happens after other jokers.

Tip: the order of cards matters.

Take your time - took me about 30 hours to win my first game :mrb_boris:

Finally managed by levelling up Straights and the "Four Fingers" joker which allows to make Straights -or Flushes- with only 4 cards. That joker was really a lifesaver for me :D98_Cards:

im in a the same boat. 17 hours and not a single win yet. I got to the last round yesterday but couldn't even get half the score needed to win..

just search for 1-2 good Mult Jokers than a minimum of 1 joker with good X mult and than fill up with Qol jokers or chip jokers

don't be too greedy early game / build up some cash
you want to get max interest every turn you can & buy plenty of tarot / planets
gauging when to break this rule out of necessity will come with practice
or just grab vagabond early & do a pauper run

early on be on the lookout for jokers that scale well with simple actions
( castle / fortune teller / constellation / spare trousers / etc )
or that give big flat bonuses ( blue joker / gros michel / etc )
or that make strong hands super simple ( smeared / shortcut )
don't focus too much on strong hands if you can't make them consistently
thinning & re-suiting your deck can work wonders to spam strong hands, sure
but you can totally focus on high card or pair & win with them

alternatively roll the dice & go for a broken combo like vampire + midas
and do not underestimate burnt joker / trading card like I did for a while
yes they'll cost you a discard every round but the payoff is great

BTW, it took me about 5.5 hours to get my first win.

Burnt Joker requires... selling 50 cards before it unlocks; which is a fair few if you play the game normally, though you can grind it.

I'm at 11 hours so far and I lost at ante 7. There's definitely a lot of RNG along the way and you really have to brute force a couple of things to really stack the scores. Early on I wasted a lot of time trying to spread everything out but the only way I've been getting past ante 6 outside of luck of to really stack a couple of hand levels and grab some key multi's that also stack.
Draco18s Mar 5, 2024 @ 10:58am
Yep, you gotta stack a lot, though I do sometimes drop a few upgrades on other things (eg. bumping High Card or Pair to level 2 or 3) just to ensure I don't get screwed by a boss that disables part of my combo/build.

A 5x1 vs. 15x2 is huge, when you've got +chip jokers.

Forcing Flush builds is the easiest way in my opinion, won every game I forced flushes on the black stake difficulty, maybe won't work on higher difficulties.

Early on you can take Econ Jokers, otherwise I recommend getting 1-2 jokers of each:
+Chips +Mult +X Mult

Early on I like to not buy stuff (unless good jokers) and go up to 25$ to maximize interest because early blinds are easy anyway. Then you have decent economy. I never reroll early on, buy only good jokers, I buy ALL tarot boosters and try to focus on one or 2 suits, like make diamond/heart cards into spades/clubs for example, then use bonus/mult on the highest cards on that suit. If you have enough money, I'd also buy planet boosters and buy all the jupiters.

That's it, works every single time for me.

The big ones I've noticed are X-mults and editioned jokers (foil, polychrome, etc.)

You'll still need an actual strategy but having things like +50 chips or +10 mult proc on literally every hand will help you more than just, say, a couple straight-enhancers. And multiplier, well, multipliers, become OP if put on top of an already strong setup.
