Usage info on cards

I'd like to see the developer go back on a future update and clear up and clarify some of the cards to help understand what they really do. Reading some of them and the application in play on a fair few seem at odds with each other. Brevity is good, though not at the expense of clarity. A number of them really leave me scratching my head. I'm sure that I'm not the only player trying to decipher some of the cards.

Words used on cards have very explicit meanings that are followed to the letter, only issue is you may not know all the keywords intuitively. A more in-depth guide in the game that explains stuff like "contains" and the order things are checked in (with an option to replay the tutorial in that same menu) would help a lot more than changing the cards.

I understand that words have explicit meanings. That said the wording could be more precise as there are some cards the effect is different or seemingly opposite of what is described.

Not OP, but I'm going to take a wild guess that early on people may be confused about the various cards that say stuff like: "Gains (Mult/Chips) (if hand contains/per) X."
This game does not apply things retroactively unless the card explicitly says "per X used this run." However, this is not really explained anywhere and since it is not explicitly stated in many cards in either direction (3 "used this run" if I counted correct, of which 2 are unlocks btw.), players need to figure that out themselves. Nothing wrong with that, but this ambiguity is probably the source of most new player confusion, rather than any card text mistakes.

Don't get me wrong, nothing I've found is wrong or confusing after playing a while, but I've already forgotten which cards caused me to learn something new from the game. I just recall those things happening a fair bit early on.

The only recent example I remember being tripped on was Raised Fist, the card says "Adds double the rank of lowest card held in hand to Multi." This intuitively sounds to me as an Ability based off of the Joker, not the card. I was not expecting a de-buffed card to prevent this card triggering.

I would assume the de-buff to work if it used the other held in hand wording found in Baron: "Each King held in hand gives x1.5 Mult.", this seems to me to be exactly the opposite issue of explicit meaning, an issue caused by not wanting to over complicate the wording. So instead of writing the full ability: "The lowest rank card held in hand grants double its Rank to Mult.", it is simplified, sacrificing some detail for cleanness.

I understand if some may disagree with the above, if it makes intuitive sense to you that "Adds double the rank of lowest card held in hand to Mult." is de-buffable, then that's great. I'd argue it's not, I'll leave it at that.

All this said, just keep an open mind both ways. There's almost always room for improvement or clarity even while keeping the exact meanings in place. Just as a quick and trivial example, nearly every card that activates start of round is: "When Blind is selected, do...", yet Marble Joker seems to break this convention for no reason, instead being worded as: "Add a Stone Card to your deck when Blind is selected.".

It's not incorrect, but games usually build on consistent language. Sometimes even breaking sentence structure or grammar to ensure different effects use different words or similar effects use similar words.

Sorry, long winded, lots to say; but TL;DR, the wording is fine, but if people can actually recall what exact situations or cards tripped them, that can potentially help add extra clarity, whether as player knowledge or potential concrete issues to address. Hard stances on either side don't help anyone: It's not flawed, it's not perfect, it's just fine.
