If I see a Double Tag, I always take it because it's quite valuable.
Cash now: depends on its value (generally "double the blind's reward + interest" or better)
Cash after boss: only on no-cash small blinds (or no-interest deck)
Joker pack: if I have at least one open joker space or a joker I can sell without worry
Arcana, Planetary pack: depends
Double tag, voucher tag: honestly almost never (heavily depends on other factors)
Free reroll in shop: never
Boss reroll: depends on the boss
If the boss is The Pillar: always take skips.
+1, this is pretty great advice for when/how to skip and is usually how I rank them in terms of priority. Although I use double tag a decent amount, using that on a Negative or Polychrome tag is just so good!
The +3 levels to a specific hand type can also be incredibly useful if it's actually a hand type I may use.
Oh for sure. But that's why I say its so dependent on other factors. If it's a double tag on a Big Blind I'm more likely to skip because I don't know what's coming up next and would rather visit the shop before the boss.
Yes that also. I had a run where I had a double tag (two?) lingering and saw that with Two Pair and went "hell yeah." It didn't help me with my actual goal (10 vouchers) but it was a nice run all the same.
That said, another thing to keep in mind is what jokers you have. If you have a joker that grants cash after each round, or gives something that scales with more hands/rounds/discards (ie space joker, burnt joker, trading card, certificate of authenticity) playing the round is a lot more valuable. And a few jokers (turtle bean and sparkling water mostly) incentivize skipping so you can get as far as possible before they run out.
Early game free shops are great same with large buffoon pack and 15$ on boss can be worth too - but later on they would be bad.
Larger Spectral packs early can be good too if you aren't committed to playing a specific hand type yet, there a lot of things you can hit that give you a clear direction to move in. You have to know its a gamble though. Obviously this doesnt apply to ghost deck.
I'd have to be real desperate to consider any small pack (pick 1 of 2) and i would never take a tarot or planet pack.
If you are still searching for a source of X multi but don't have a large bank to roll the shop then poly joker can be worth it in a few cases. Its not something i'm always taking though.
If you already have a hand thats working and are full on jokers negative joker can seem like a good idea but its inconsistent, like the spectral pack its a gamble you get something useful.
Playing more blinds is going to consistently yield more money than skipping though so i don't do it too often.
