Your poly Matador was a very good card. Because it negates the downside I just pointed out. Hope you enjoyed it, doesn't happen too often!
Matador procs once per played hand maximum. It never gave you $16 on one hand played. But sometimes it is possible to kind of stall, play many low scoring hands and then Matador becomes a money printer.
There's a challenge in which the cards you play become debuffed until the end of the run. I was doing that challenge and I found Matador. To my surprise, it activated against all blinds, boss or not, whenever I played a debuffed card. Do I need to say money wasn't a problem in that run?
thanks so much for clarifying some of these details. the run where I used it was awhile ago and I thought it was triggering multiple times per hand, but I don't remember it super well so I wasn't totally sure.
I also agree that any joker that is sitting idle for the majority of the rounds you're playing is probably not very good. this is also why i barely use loyalty card, but even that one I guess you have a bit more control over. also interesting to learn it works for special cases like in challenge runs, in THOSE scenarios that would be an incredible card for sure, that must've been fun haha.
i wish this card was a little better somehow, i like these 'high risk' kind of cards but only triggering once per hand definitely deflates some of the potential i thought it had. guess it could still be a good pick to use temporarily in rare cases.
Also probably comes in handy if you're going for the speedrunner achievement, since you won't be fighting small/big blinds much anyways.
100% agreed, this is the best way to use it. maybe also good for anaglyph deck as skipping blinds is generally much more common.
Same. I also wish it was a bit better. To me what kills it is all the bosses that will not allow it to proc, ever. That's bad. I can live with it being useless against SB and BB. But if it's useless against some bosses, then what's the point?
I don't know. A rather generic "+$4 per hand played against bosses" would work fine with me. The point is, a simple Golden joker will make $4 every round. So it would make sense if Matador could generate $12, $16, or even $28 per boss if played correctly, right?
EDIT: once again, I bought Matador because on an incoming boss. The one that takes $1 from you for each card played. Well crap, that boss does not trigger the Matador, which is really bad. It makes no sense. I play a hand, it activates a boss ability, Matador SHOULD work. Arrrgghh
yeah completely agree. lol i also use the golden joker as my economy joker 'benchmark', it's just easy and consistent.
