thanks!! yeah I was considering going for checkered deck as I thought it might be the easiest to clear next. I bet this deck actually gets pretty difficult in the higher stakes with less discards / hands and flushes not having very strong scaling. good luck though, hope you clear it soon.
I would also recommend the Checkered deck next as it's basically a free pass through Ante 1 which lets you build your economy and you can be pickier with your joker choices during the early game. You don't need to stick with flushes as you progress into the mid-game antes, but they're a good fallback.
While not as consistent as the Checkered, another deck I enjoy playing gold stake on is the Erratic deck, though I'd recommend resetting on it until you get a fun looking deck such as 9+ of one card and going from there. The Ghost deck for the free polychrome joker and spectrals showing up in the shop is another fun one on gold stake.
thanks for the suggestions! i think the obvious thing with checkered deck is flushes, but i think it could also be a good deck to actually specialize into straight flush as well. i had one run with this deck where i was able to build into playing straight / royal flushes consistently, i'd like to see if that was just dumb luck or if it's something i can consistently pull off.
Erratic is the deck i've played the least with as i only recently unlocked it. It can really go as high as 9 or more of a single card? I wonder how high it can potentially go. starting with 9 of the same rank card sounds like an incredibly strong start, you could reliably play five of a kind on ante 1 with that. will definitely try this deck out some more.
Checkered can pivot to Straight Flush yes, but Flush House and Flush Five are probably easier. Straight Flush is just never truly easy to work with, especially on Gold Stake. Then again no 5 card hand is easy on Gold, the other two are just easier.
And yes, Erratic can get 9 of a single card. There's even seeds with entire decks being one rank being passed around. Of course you likely won't ever see one of those unseeded, but a decent number of duplicates isn't entirely uncommon especially if you reset for them.
The green deck I found to be relatively easy to win with, if you want to try it. The reason is that it gives a burst of money right from the start. That's almost like the yellow deck in a way. And then if you find 2-3 decent jokers, you'll keep making more money for a long time. +1 hand voucher on top of this and you're in the driver's seat. Burglar, same thing.
No interest can feel a bit awkward, but at the same time, it makes your life easier. Because except for Hermit, other reasons to keep money are gone.
I think this is the deck i'll try clearing next, tbh, as it is very similar to yellow deck at the start. i played several games with a few different decks last night and when I played green I played it basically just how you outlined and it worked out great. the lack of interest is certainly an adjustment, but it's kind of fun being able to burn through more of my money whenever I want lol.
