Wheel of fortune
1 of 4 chance.

Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope!

Are we sure that it's really a 1 in 4 chance?

Thanks for this info, very interesting. Can I please ask where you got access to the source code and if it is publicly available?
LOVE games aren't compiled like C++ for instance is, they're interpreted at runtime like java. So they contain their source code, and much like java games you can just unzip the executable to get the code.

A huge aside but, Java is done via JIT, so it's interpreted the first go around, but then it's compiled and optimized if it runs often. It's not strictly interpreted, and for all intents and purposes to the Java programmer, it's compiled, as the JIT is abstracted away.

Python, JavaScript, and generally scripting languages are strictly interpreted at runtime.

But also, yes, 1 in 4 chance my ass lol. I'm gonna do a deep dive of the code and see how/why it comes up with that for Wheel of Fortune, because of the dozen+ times I've activated it, it hit once or twice.

It's funny because I had a recent game where I'd have loved to have the Cavendish but needed the Gros Michel to go extinct first. I bought it fairly late game and it was by far the worst joker I had at that point. I went 13 rounds before I finally had to just get rid of it for a better joker because it refused to go extinct.

OH MOST ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DEFINITELY

i love taking it cuz its fun, but if i take it late it lasts forever, if I take it round one and need it to carry me a ways it pops on the first time i use it

It works the way it's supposed to. People are just terrible at gauging probability due to a combination of selective memory and confirmation bias. I've had 1/4 chance effects proc four times in a row two rounds in a row before. I've specifically had Wheel of fortune work at least three times in a row before. It's fine.

That's nothing. Imagine doing the Flush deck (only two suits) and using buying / getting over 18 planetarium cards and not a single one being Jupiter the entire time. If it wasn't for the Tarot Joker and the Planetarium Joker carrying me... I'm not sure I would of won on Purple Stake.

1/4 chance literally means 1/4 chance. so you have a 25% chance itll proc, no, this does not mean its guaranteed to proc every 4th attempt, it just means it procs on average every 4th attempt.

I hate when RNG ruins me to btw, but thats just how the game works, rng is part of it, embrace it, eventually you'll get that god run from a random seed :P

I think the main reason people don't realise this is because they're individuals as part of a large population. If all player WoF rolls were added up, they would proc very close to 25%; but one person's stats might show it running on 40% and another person on 10%, and that latter player will think it's not operating correctly as the 1/4 it should.

Right but that's how any probability model is going to work out if you have a single person and a low sample size. If you average all the WoF procs across all players the rate will be 25% but also if any single person played the game for 10,000 hours their rate would be 25%. People just be mad after they've used it 12 times and haven't had 3+ successes.

Can confirm, I have also had Wheel go off three times in a row. People just don't realize that 25% can fail over and over and over apparently.

After countless NOPE!s, I actually had TWO work, back to back, the other day.

but yeah, it's an almost endless stream of Nopes. Use it if you have the cash, otherwise it's useless.
Catman Mar 13, 2024 @ 2:33pm
NOPE!
RustyTheRed Mar 13, 2024 @ 5:09pm
40 hours in and it hasn't proc'd once for me.
Not saying it's not a 1 in 4, but I consider it useless, so it could do with a buff imo.

Edit: just opened up Excel. There's a 10% chance it fails eight times in a row. Worthless odds compared to the benefits of other tarot cards.
