How familiar with playing cards do you have to be to get into this game?

I wanted to check this game out but I was never very good at playing games like Poker and I sort of forgot some of the rules after a while. I read that this game is a rogue-like and I wanted to know what's the "hook" of this game that gets players addicted to playing it and if it's easy to get into and understand the mechanics?

Basically as long as you know what poker hands are, you are set. And even if you don't know what poker hands are, the game has an always-accessible cheat sheet telling you exactly what they all are.

Think of Balatro less like a poker game or even a card game and more an engine-building game that happens to use some basic aesthetics of poker.

Like, literally, as long as you know (or can remember after reading) what the difference between a full house and a four of a kind is, you are set.

its more like your usual roguelike deckbuilder like slay the spire etc so you should be fine, poker rules like hands etc are also in game
