It's a boss that only appears on ante 6 or above, not new. It resets your money if you play your most played hand, not a random one. It's to force you to not build for one type of hand only, or at least to force you to be strong enough with said hand that you don't mind losing your savings.

oh true, i did vaguely remember versing it in one my first 6 runs when i first started, i literally didnt mind losing my money as i had my starting 6 jokers (black deck ofc) in first like 3-4 ante lol, 2 main ones was burnt joker, and card sharp, other ones polychromed possibility joker and misprint, not the best polychromes but it all worked once i got card sharp and to top it off i got a joker that was useless to my build but the polychrome gave me a 1.5 x mult which i put before card sharp , my pair was level 23 lol only got to boss of ante 10 but still decent build ahha, i like this boss punishes people that misplayed what was given in the run but for people that made the right choices dont even care lol

Its certainly an annoying boss, but not a run-ender.
I've beaten every boss blind except Violet Cup, which is basically a buffed version of The Vessel.

As I haven't beaten it, I can't directly view its stats as the game says they are, but poking at the code side, the wall's setup math is "self.chips /= 2" and violet vessel is "self.chips /= 3"

I can't quite figure out how that makes any sense, though.

It's 6x base blind (instead of the wall's 4x), so easily the worst of the five endgame bosses!

That's what I expected (boss base is 2X, so if the division results in multiplying that value (???) then that would do that).

I'd argue it's one of the easiest (After Amber Acorn, which flips and shuffles Joker). You basically have no penalty against Violet Vessel other than the higher chips requirement, which can be easily overcome if you built your deck efficiently up until Ante 8.

The penalty is that you need to be able to win against the Big Blind by double the required value in a single hand in order to even attempt violet vessel.

If you're only winning by narrow margins and/or in more than one play, you have no chance against violet vessel. It isn't so much "build efficiently" as it is "be overpowered as ♥♥♥♥."

People already complain that The Wall is ridiculous (although I'll grant that some of the others, if you encounter them at the wrong moment, will end your run, too) and Violet Vessel is functionally equivalent to Big Blind on Ante 9.

"double Big Blind in order to attempt"? That means you hit 3x the base score requirement in one hand, so for a normal 4 hands per round build that means you could kill VV twice over.
If you're not oneshotting things by ante 8 you're doing something wrong.

That assumes you can get that value with every draw and minimal discards.
