Unlocking collections through challenge decks

I was trying to get a joker that needs five gold cards to be played. I joined a challenge deck that could help me to get that task done with ease, but it doesn't seem like it's possible because I played the hand and still didin't get to unlock the joker. Does this collections unlocks don't work in challenge mode?

The only way anything unlocks at all, is on normal unseeded regular runs. Not challenge runs, not seeded, not anything else. It's frustrating I know.

apparently not, someone on these boards mentioned this to me recently. kind of unfortunate as it would make certain unlocks quite a bit easier.

for what it's worth, i recommend using the magic deck for that specific unlock. i played a run a few nights ago to get this specific unlock, and i ended up also being able to unlock "discard a royal flush" and "discard 5 jacks" (or maybe it was play 5 jacks, idk), all in 1 run. magic deck is great for lots of card enhancements / deck manipulation, which is basically what you need to do to get alot of gold cards.

Also bear in mind that this doesn't get unlocked by combining Midas with Pareidolia (to turn your entire hand into gold cards), as that effect only happens *after* you've played them (not before).

For the "Discard a Royal Flush", I recommend Checkered Deck, just start a blind, use all your Discard on first round to hit a Royal Flush, and hold R if fails. Only took me like 5 minutes to succeed, and you don't even need to win a run to count.

"Use all but one of your discards and all but one of your playable hands" you mean :P
