In game it's a measure of progression. 5 ante level, 3 blinds per level with the last one being a boss that has special effects, plus a short bonus 6th ante level if you make it there.
It's just a way to keep track of your progress in a run.
In this game I could not figured out other than noticing that the voucher prize changes when the ante levels change.
And also the higher the ante is, the higher points you have to score to defeat bosses.
My question is that I have the option to buy a voucher that is -1 ante/-1 hand per round.
So I assume that means I can go back a "level" but have one less hand to play each round.
I'm trying to figure out the benefits of going back an ante. I think it would be I can go through the level 5 shops again and boost more hand types and get more bonus cards for my deck. Not sure I want to do that this run since I have a really good build/run going.
Yes and not only that, some jokers "grow" deppending on your actions, like every time you play X hand, every time you skip a blind, every time you reroll, etc, so you'll make them stronger by playing one more ante.
