Can't Play on 1920x1080 due to zoomed in screen size.
Hey guys, this game looks insane, but for some reason when I try to set the resolution to 1920x1080 the screen is zoomed and I can not resize it to fit. ALL my other games, besides strider, will play on 1920x1080. If i go down a resolution size the game is playable, but it will not fill up the entire screen. My specs are below. Any work arounds to fix this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

This may or may not be your problem, but it's something to rule out. Since you mentioned your Bravia TV, do you normally play your games on your TV? You may want to check Display, Zoom, or Screen Fit settings on your TV and set it to "Just Scan", "Source", "Full Pixel", or whatever Bravia calls disabling overscan. Most TVs will zoom in a bit (overscan) unless you tell them it's a PC input or to not mess with the signal.

It's because you use dpi scaling. Now, usually, you can go disable dpi scaling when you go into the compatability settings on Transistor[dot]exe. Be sure to do it on the exe in the x64 folder instead of the x86 folder (because you're running a 64bit machine).
It is possible that you cannot select the option to disable dpi scaling. If that's the case, you can work around that by making Transistor[dot]exe aware of dpi scaling through the registry (but only if you know what you're doing).

Bottom line: Supergiantgames need to make the 64 bit version of the executable 'high dpi aware' in their next patch. This will resolve an issue that should've been tested before release.

I posted this in a similar thread. This is only applicable when you run a 64 bit version of Windows:
(1) Go to Transistor in your steam library. Go to properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files.
(2) Go into the x64 folder and copy the full path to your 64 bit Transistor[dot]exe. For me it looks like this: D:\Installed Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Transistor\x64\Tramsistor[dot]exe.
(3) press windows key + R
(4) this reveals the run command window. Now type Regedt32.exe
(5) in the registry editor navigate to this place: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
(6) Now in the right pane. do the following: right click > new > String Value.
(7) enter the full path you copied under step 2. So in my case I would enter: D:\Installed Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Transistor\x64\Transistor.exe
(8) When you've created the new string, double click it.
(9) a prompt pops up called 'Edit String'.
(10) under 'Value data' enter ~ HIGHDPIAWARE
(11) Close the registry editor and you'll probably need to reboot.
(12) try running transistor. It should work.

rvone you are the best. That did the trick for me. Thank you for the information. That should be stickied at the top.

Happy to have helped you! I'm just glad you're now free to enjoy the game.
It's really a ridiculous oversight on the part of the developer since it's just a simple flag in Windows.
Anyway, enjoy!

Yes I do play all my games on this sony Bravia, I checked all the different zoom and screen setting, and this happens to be the only game that has this issue.

I actually saw a similiar thread yesterday, that said to disable the dpi scaling in the Transistor EXE but that had no affect when I clicked on.

Rvone, you are both a scholar and a gentleman.

TrojanDimo: yes, that matters. At step 2 go into the x86 folder instead of the x64 folder. The rest should remain the same.

Thanks for your input Rvone, I tried to change both x64 and x86 files, and restared, but the 1920x1080 is still zoomed in. Its not a huge deal i just need to go down one in resolution, but of course i want the full screen glory of this game. Im sure they will fix it down the line, like they did in strider. Anyway thank so much for the input.

Such a shame it doesn't work for you. I hope you'll find a solution soon. In the mean time, I guess my solution was able to help others which is nice, I guess.

Question, I have made it to step (5) \CurrentVersion. I have the options, \AppHost, \Applets, \ApplicationAssociationToasts, \ApplicationView, \AppModel, \AppSync, and \AppX. I cannot find \AppCompatFlags or /Layers. Suggestions anyone? \ApplicationView seemed to be the obvious choice but no dice. I am running Windows 8.1 at the moment.
