Diagonal screen tearing
When I try playing I get a single diagonal line from top left to bottom right.

Looking around this seems to be a problem with some Nvidia laptop graphics cards.

The single line goes away and is replaced by stuttering when the screen moves if I switch to integrated graphics in the Nvidia control panel.

This problem should only come up when you're running in windowed mode which is weird since I run in fullscreen (or at least it should be fullscreen).

Any help to get anywhere? I'd love to play through this game before Pyre comes out but it seems like it's going to be a miserable experience just getting set up.

same issue here (980m and 1060m laptops)--it's across all optimus devices. The issue originated from some driver around the release of windows 10 (mid-2015), and I've been working patiently with my computer seller/manufacturers since then to try and fix it.

This might help, but it's a bit of a long shot:

...the OP seems moderately pissed, but frankly I think everyone affected is at this point :(

EDIT--steam blipped out P I S S E D. Also, you have the right idea about fullscreen dependency. It just needs to be 'exclusive' fullscreen.

Try adding the launch option

/fullscreen=true

Not sure if this will solve it (since it seems so system dependent), but hopefully that will you get the game into exclusive fullscreen.

I'll try it out, thanks! Also worth mentioning: I was able to fix the problem in a similarly-isometric/2d game (Brigador) by using nvidiainspector, setting frame limit to 61.8 and turning off vsync in-game. If the exclusive fullscreen fix doesn't work, I'll give this a shot and report back on what happens.

update--the launch option didn't work, but messing around with nvidia inspector yielded a pretty playable result, albeit some stutter.

Honestly the best way to circumvent this issue with games that don't draw a lot of power (like Transistor, Brigador) is to unplug your laptop. This forces the tearing to be completely eliminated, or confined to a fairly small portion of the upper-left hand corner of the screen.

Yeah, the launch option did nothing for me either.

Disabling Vsync in the nvidia control panel makes it go away but leaves the screen stuttering uncomfortably instead.

Hmm there are a few launch options that may help with the stutter:

/Bloom=false /DrawRecursivePaths=false /NoFixedStep=true

Hopefully that helps!

Didn't do anything unfortunately.

Unless I needed to do anything other than copypaste that entire line into the steam launch options.

I'm doing a remote session with my computer seller (xotic pc) to diagnose the issue and look for any fixes. If there's any developement, I'll post back here!

edit--enable FXAA in the nvidia control panel; fixes it right up (no real cost for 2d games like transistor, but it does make 3d games look a little softer).

A driver update fixed it for me a while back (right in time to play through Transistor before Pyre released).

Thanks for all the responses though, and for remembering the thread months later.

No prob! Issue was driving me crazy for a whole year and a half, so I'm glad it resolved itself for you
