Font and Text Problem
I'm playing the game with subtitles, but instead of letters, the subtitles are just rectangular blocks where letters should be.

Okay, I think. Probably just a stylistic thing. They'll clear up as this goes on.

Win my first fight. The after-battle analysis is *also* composed entirely of white rectangular blocks.

Wearing a bit thin, I feel.

I check the options menu to try to see if something's wrong. The other menus are fine, but the "Language" menu has the same problem.

Hoping against hope that this is all just some stylistic thing, I keep playing the game, right up until, after accessing the whether panel, the whole shebang is just white blocks instead of text.

I give up. Can't find anyone else on the Internet having this problem. Any help, gents?

Should have read through the threads first, loads of us are having this issue. If you have an NVIDIA processor a fix that could help you is listed at the end of the Technical FAQ thread. If you're like me and don't have one, you'll just have to wait until the devs find a way to fix it.

Here are some reported fixes by the devs:

Text fix report 1.

Hi, sorry to hear about the issue you've encountered. Please try the following steps:
1. Go into the local files and choose either the x86 or x64 folder (depending on your OS)
2. Find the exe named Transistor and right click and select properties
3. Go to compatibility tab and choose disable display scaling on high DPI settings
4. Click run as administrator

Will probably edit for more possible fixes as I bring them up. These brought up for quick response.

Edit: Reported fix by Gigas Lich for black screen issues, not Tbpritchett's font/text problem:
Original post.

The placeholder texts is a different issue than the block text that we're getting, so that probably won't help you.

Sorry. I was looking for variations on "text, font, block," etc. I *think* I have an Nvidia card. I'll try that fix you mentioned.

Seems so. Unfortunately all I'm able to surface right now is what I've posted there. =/ I'll keep digging around. Pretty sure Bastion had the same issue, but the posted solutions are essentially the same as with it.

The 'fix' I had posted was only for the black screen problem, not the text. I still suffer from the blocky text. I also can't change to "high dpi" settings because in the properties of "Transistor.exe" all the options are greyed out except for run as admin and run in compat(...).

Is there a way to access these greyed out options in some other way? I'm the only user on my laptop so I don't see how I wouldn't have access as I'm the sole user/admin.

Oh, whoops! My bad there, sorry for misrepping that. I only zipped over it, thinking you may have resolved it since you didn't follow up with anything else. I'll amend that in my post.

Edit: Gigas, where do you have it installed? I think I've run into situations where those options are unusable due to the installation directory being a little odd.

Just the plain ol steam installed. Steam, steamapps, common, (user), transistor..

Or whatever it is. I use the x64 version.

I also have this problem, but can't find anything out there for a solution. All I found was this.
DCUniverse May 21, 2014 @ 1:16pm
@Gigas I had the same problem at first. There should be another directory directly below x64 in the Transistor file: x86. By right-clicking the Transistor.exe in there I was able to tick the different options.
HPL Favorite Cat May 21, 2014 @ 1:28pm
I can change the x86 options but it doesnt do anything. If I try and run the x86 exe I just get a "transistor has stopped working" before the game even launches.

I can run the x64 exe but it has to be very small resolution otherwise I get horrible FPS. even still I only get like 25-40FPS at the lowest res. And the text hasn't fixed itself either.

All I want to play this game...

I have an intel graphics card, and I have these same issues (block text). I've the fixes listed here along with different compatibility modes, none of which worked for me.
