The demon's easily the smartest character
If it gives out gifts like that often, it'll have a pretty much endless supply of sacrificial souls to consume when people need to recharge it, all while corrupting the living souls who use it beyond any hope of redemption.

It definitely seems like Andrew and Ashley's dumbest moment to continue relying on that thing as soon as they learnt it was only one-use-per-death (if the demon was even telling the truth about that. Maybe it just wanted more sacrifices).

I mean, sure, it helped them survive one time, but what're they gonna do? Kill another person EVERY DAY for the rest of their lives just so they can have a vision every night for security? They aren't going to last very long like that, and it's a pretty vicious circle.

They're in danger and need a vision to keep them safe --> They need to kill a person to see a vision --> Now they need that vision even more because they've made their situation more dangerous by killing someone --> They use up the vision > They need to recharge the vision because they're in danger from their last murder --> They kill a person to see a vision, etc.

Maybe I misinterpreted it and they meant to kill their parents anyway, while filling the talisman for two last visions was just a convenient by-product.

But I'll wait to see Episode 3 if they get a new motivation to do stuff. Otherwise, the demon's found a real pair of suckers.

not really all that much the police can do based on just a skull

like Andrew said, dental records are the easiest to look up - but they already disposed of the teeth separately.

You say that like it's an accomplishment. We're not exactly dealing with criminal masterminds here. This ain't Monster or Science Of The Lambs although these characters still are smarter than the numbnuts in Code Geass

the demon is indifferent to humans generally as all coffin demons seemingly are
it will keep driving more and more bargains with hidden caveats, like the occasional clairvoyant dream requiring human sacrifices to keep working, which wasn't explained when ashley first got it
obviously this is a perfect narrative device to keep tensions high and to drive the plot, with the siblings needing to do more and more crazy things to appease the demon

Having Andy and Ley go from killing to protect themselves and cannibalizing to survive, to murdering their parents seemed like quite a leap. And why didn't they just leave the comatose bodies alive in their bed? No murder, no missing persons...

they did cut 1 of them for blood .
Also they WOULD be declared missing either way. The main difference between that and getting rid of the bodies is in one case the bodies are likely never found, or at least not positively ID'd, and in the other the bodies are found in their beds with the both of them apparently having gone spontaneously comatose at the same time. I mean maybe you could say that there'd at least be a medical explanation there, but it'd still be more suspicious than the two disappearing.
Side note: I just watched that scene again, and it's worth noting that it's Ashley that kills the parents before Andrew can do anything about it. Even if you're saying there's a smarter alternative, she's not exactly known for her forethought.
