As for the building: I dont know the mission you are talikng about(I dont play Story), but the functional colony buildings are replicated like items. If you need to build a house though, use buildmode, you can not create a whole building in the creator.
one option, is to simply allow dirt blocks to be tilled into garden soil, OR perhaps a special dirt block that's just called "hummus" and you place that down, to create your nice flat gardens.
but I'm frustrated with making gardens, and not able to ADD tillable land, only remove it.
No, that's not fixing that's PREVENTION. Sure it's a great habit to learn but it does NOT help us who've aready mucked up a nice organised garden bed, for example.
base building are ready made objects , they aren't boxes , but you can build buildings ( by boxes ) over them to protect them from creatures attack
Ahhh, no. more like...I want a flat FLAT garden, [just as an example] and I'm mucking around, with my pick or shovel out, and oh crap, I made a wonking divot in my garden plot, because dumb. but I can't UNDO what i did, I can't fill in the damned divot I'd dug. that's what we're talking about. it'd be cool if yo ucould plant on "dirt blocks" but ya can't. it's basically stucco at that point.
I'm hoping that in the future we'll be able to both a) Have a way to replace terrain voxels to restore the natural terrain, and b) Be able to fertilize and plant on our placed dirt blocks (with a better texture than the current orangy-yellow) so we can lay out much better farm fields.
glad to hear that it seems this dilemma has gotten to the dev's ears. let's hope it makes it in! even if it requires special gear, I don't mind!
excellant. Ieagerly await. let us hope it works for stone as well, though mostly soil.
