where to build my colony in story mode?
There is A martain colony with a huge empty ship with its back cargo bay open and there are npcs scattered all over a large flat area. im considering this flat area for my colony location. from what i gather these here are martains. and im trying to gather the earthlings. so wont i have everyone in one location then? if so then this is where im building my colony .

as close to the martian colony as possible, in that corridor of grasslands near the forest. if you go to the martian camp and cut a 45 degree swath of forest out, going straight sw, then build your colont close to the exit at the forest edge. This is the most efficient colony placement.

There have been warnings about placing colonies close to mining locations. I igniored those warnings and did OK. It was handy to have coal, aluminum and iron inside my base.

Just an FYI, for those who read this discussion's title and are looking for suggestions on where to build a colony in Story Mode:

You may want to check the Defensible Colony Locations[board.pathea.net] topic I started on the official forums. In great detail, I list 15 different locations for a colony, with a focus on being defensible. I give my reasons why and I include at least one or two screenshots of each location.

In particular, I know that the peninsula that is Adisa Camp and the Large Doline are both very popular locations as I've seen screenshots and topics of players having their colony there. Also, there is a small island/peninsula at 8091,6142 which I've seen some players use.
