It helps to find the NPC that sells the scanner upgrade that locates oil I cannot remember which NPC. I have run in to a bit on the coastline under the sand just SW of where the story mode game begins.

ihave it but when i use it and then dig i find nothing even tho the scanner says its right here

If you use the scanner during once in a while during your dig, you can tilt the scanner screen and see how deep you need to go and which direction to aim. If you are well above it, try grenades to help speed the digging. But be careful with that as you can blow your mineral away, if your to close to it.

i need oil and i just cannot find it can some one give me coords around the starting area for oil i need to make fuel for a quest but i cant find the minerals even witht he scanner i dig and theres nothing there even tho it says im right there with the scanner weird
