Could My Time at Evershine become the redemption that PE needed?
We've all noticed the recent change of art style for my time at evershine, characters being more realistic and less cartoonish, the broad and beautiful landscape with alien and exotic features, surprisingly breath taking. Evershine could be used to revive and continue the storyline of PE, as the developers become more experienced with open world building games maybe a Planet Explorers 2 isn't all impossible.

I agree completely. They took some of the elements of PE to use for MTAP, and have always said that they wanted to flex their chops a bit more before doing PE2. I think it stands to reason that the things that work for MTAE and the others will be used for improving the PE2 experience. They have done much more with instances (dungeons) in MTA, and that was a little stale in PE. Honestly I think everything will be improved when they decide to take it on again.

One thing for sure, the character and NPC interaction is much more developed. I think in PE2 we can expect romance in the colonies to be available as well as the other leveling elements, as a trade-off for what will likely NOT be a full voxel world. That's just my guess. I think what we will see is discoverable mines, which can then be entered as a voxel mining instance, like in MTA, instead of having a voxel world to dig through. The "mines" would be hidden and only discoverable using the scanner. I haven't played MTAS nor do I expect to play MTAE, but my understanding is that colony development and government is also being developed for those games, especially MTAE, according to development releases in the Discord. I can see many elements which could be ported fully intact into the realm of PE2.

Even though there is no apparent activity on PE2, there have been clear comments about designs being worked on for it. I really think everything they are doing can actually be related to and developed into the PE2 world. That may be one of their ultimate goals for all of the work going into MTA.

not being a full voxel world is exactly what would make me not buy PE2 because exactly that was the best part of PE, being able to look for ore and digging for it everywhere. this and the colony simulator were the major greta things in PE.
I agree the underground exploration was great, but the voxelcache and chunk loading was one of the biggest problems with PE as well. My preference would be to have more colony interaction and development and less digging for resources, as long as the surface exploration was still open world with interesting features and an even more complex dungeon generator. I rarely explored for ores except for titanium, and once I found a source, I built my colony there and rarely mined anything again (with everything else being provided by the Processor.) As nice as it was to be able to dig around and landscape the colony, I'm still willing to see variations on the theme before passing judgement.
