Firstly, don't sub items directly from workshop... it doesn't work very well unless you know how to search through game files / folders and know what you are looking for.
the EASY way to get items from workshop and access them in creation is.....
Launch the game and select ISO tab from main menu
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1808570621
This will direct you to the In-game "workshop" page, where every single item you find on steam workshop, is listed here, in fact, all the items on steam workshop, were posted there via this page.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1808570677
Use the filters and find the items you are interested in having / using.... select the item and on the right side of the window, the item will show, along with a few basic stats.... press the download button at lower right of the window, and now you should have that ISO in creation.
After you have selected the item(s) you want, close the ISO page and launch single player game and select whichever mode you want (story, adventure, creation, build) then open the creator....
You should have a folder called "downloads"... open the downloads folder and proper sub-folder (example... if you subbed a gun iso, open "weapons" sub-folder) and you should find the newly downloaded ISO there...
As with all ISO's, you must have all the proper materials in your inventory, in order to bring the item into your game world.
Not all Workshop Creations are listed. maybe around 1/4 of them are, so the question is, how or where do we find the ISO files from the steam workshop?
I don't know how to go about locating subbed workshop item files, but it was my understanding that once you subbed something from the workshop, the ISO would go into one of the folders within your game files and would be named something strange such as a long string of numbers (but I may have misunderstood info i saw on a different thread)
Anyhow... To the best of my knowledge, at some point, the whole creation / physics system was overhauled which made thousands of custom objects obsolete / useless...
As just 1 example... Prior to that overhaul, it was possible to make guns that had 4 barrels or muzzles, which made the damage output extremely OP to say the least (4 times the damage), plus you could squeeze out even more damage if you moved your barrels farther away from the trigger.... after the overhaul. guns could only have 1 muzzle, and distance between barrel and trigger does nothing for increasing / decreasing damage (which is now the current version).
All the older versions were still left on steam workshop so that players could still sub these out-of-date items, but could not USE the item until the ISO was "fixed" by removing the offending parts (in this example, 3 of the 4 barrels removed).... and only THEN could you bring in the "new, updated (and severely less deadly) weapon.
IF you have played adventure mode, then you know that there are dungeons in adventure mode.... Each one has various degrees of difficulty, and at the end of every dungeon, a "better" loot container can usually be found, and (randomly) possibly contain a player-made creation as a reward... The "prize pool" it would draw these random creations from was anything that had been uploaded to steam workshop (via the multiplayer lobby which is the equivalent of ISO tab in the most recent f2p game)... ALL entries you see on steam workshop were posted there via that old system (multiplayer lobby)... After the physics overhaul, the game kept drawing from that pool of ISO creations, however, the vast majority of the items were out -of -date so you could get just about any old useless junk creation that didnt work at all... gun that wont fire, aircraft that wont fly, cars that wont drive, boats that wont float etc... until , eventually pathea pulled out all the out-of-date versions of creations so the prize pool would at least be up-to-date items.... I think they only cleaned up the ISO's that can be found withing the game (current versions only) but didn't do the same for steam workshop, so it's my belief that Items you see in workshop, which do not show in ISO tab, are all old, outdated posts from before the physics patch and IF (not sure you can) you can somehow access these workshop items, you will likely have to completely rework them before you can even bring them into your game.
It's my guess that your choices are limited to choosing something via the ISO tab on the start menu or creating your own items or getting files from Nexxus or similar site.
If anyone else has better info about this, please feel free to add to or correct my reply.
