rivers value are better tyo be low values
enviroment , wet - dry , dietermine how the dep[th of the water will be , more wet more depth
max hight if you want bigger hills / mountains , im not sure but you might face more rough slopes and hills
plane hight is the mininmum or standard hight for the terrain , it determines the terrain hight from sea level , if you set it low you might will get flooded area , setting more wet invroment should also have set morevalues for the plane hight
flatness determine how smoth your terrain is , this should be high value as like 50 60 or 70 so the terrain can be acceptable , if you see rough slides turn the grassy terrain mao into rocks , to keep it grassed you should make the terrain smoother , flatness can help you
8 X 8 is decent map for me and for few players , i shold turn voxel caching on to reduce the stutter and slow map gen issue , etting 40 x40 oytld take huge amount of GBs if you enable voxel cavhimg
if you want to buy higher quality items , you should discover more advanced villages there are few of maximum levels , otherwise try to place trading post structure in your colony , you will find many thimgs but with higher price
I got some scripts from searching dino-dropping, though you risk disease with that.
Dungeons can also (randomly) supply scripts. I say randomly, however, there does seem to be some 'level seperation' on the drops. Level 1 or 2 dungeons will give you things like copper tool scripts or wooden stair scripts whereas I got my Particle Cannon script from a level 6 dungeon, I think.
Trading post only sells what you have already found other merchants selling. If you drop a trading post after only visting the starting town it will only sell starting town level items.
You have to go out and explore and find all the various towns to get everything on the trading post.
