Nela's Choice (SPOILER)
I knew what was coming when I walked up to Nela... I actually ran away and made it quite a ways back down the street only to have the cut scene throw me right into the explosion. It completely destroyed the moment because I was busy going wtff? How did i get there? This is not a decision I would ever have made. Am I the only one who ran away from certain death!? Otherwise, this game is much more than I ever expected to get and you've done a fantastic job so far Red Thread Games. Thanks!!

I ran towards her but assumed it WAS a choice. If possible they should change that.

the only issue is that would change to much going forword.

heres an over simplifed example to give you an idea why making to many choises matter to much is impossible.

imagine if every book had 2 choices in it(a very small number) and for every choice you had 3 options(a medium number)
by the end of book 5 you would have 60,000 endings
I also ran away from her, and suddenly I'm right behind her in the cut scene. Who in their right mind would run after a bomb carrying crazy woman? I don't like that it gave you a 'option' and then decided to make it a set way.

do you know what else gave you an 'option' like that heavy ran and finding your son when hes lost in the mall. not every choice has to be a real one

They should have just made it a cutscene then. I have no issue with not having a choice in the matter, but its poor design to imply there is some sense of variability when there isn't.

they did not imply a choice they thoght you would have a heart and try to save your friend.
just like with heavy rain they assumed you would try to find your son and not run in the oposite direction.
you are just spoiled with game choices these day not every seen in every game needs to give you options

have a heart? are you kidding? There is no way I would run after anyone who had their hand on the trigger of a bomb. I don't care who it was. I would book it in the opposite direction, which is what I did here. There is no survivability in this situation. What a crazy, unstable thing to do.

did they give ytou a choice in heavy rain to continue browsing the store and ignore the fact your son was missing?
no should they have turned it into a cutsceen..no
90% of events in games theres no "choice" to that does not mean 90% of the game should be a cutsceen

But the problem is it *did* give you the option to run away...then it just teleported you back for the cutscene
jamie.obier Mar 23, 2015 @ 11:55am
I didn't run away. It's simple: I saw Nela in Slow Motion running forwards. Then there was a hint: press L Shift or something. In this moment I thought that the slowmo is the sign for me to stop Nela (my cursor was a point, maybe to interact?) But I was too far away from her. I don't know why I had have to press the keys. Maybe we could hold Nela back?

Guysssss... the awesome team actually *did* do an extra cutscene + choice out of this! According to Ragnar, they didn't imagine anyone would run away, but then they saw the feeback. Check out the pages 5+6 here:
http://redthreadgames.com/forum/topic/1517-ilusion-of-choice-the-ending-of-book-two/

It should be available in the upcoming beta, or something... people who have played the beta now didn't confirm yet that there's a new cut scene, but Ragnar was very clear about it...

Ragnar:
"If you play the new beta branch on Steam (2.0.1) there is now a SECOND cut-scene that happens if you turn around and run away.

Oh, and we record your choice.

It will have repercussions."

Must test right away :D
