Dreamfall Chapters comes in 5 Books (parts), 3 are already released.
You pay only ONCE for ALL 5 Books.
Yes, but the story of Dreamfall Chapters is a direct sequel to Dreamfall. It continues the story of Zoë Castillo
The Longest Journey is older (would love a revamped edition) and doesn't play exactly like Dreamfall, plus the main protagonist in both DF:TLJ and DF:Chapters is the same.
Don't look at it as a set-back however, enjoy every minute of this franchise, it's amazingly well-crafted and engaging. Hope that helps!
it's just i cant stand the 2006 graphics LOL T.T
No matter what it is you enjoy about the game, be it story, scenery, music, mechanics, or anything in between, you are of course welcome to play it and share your thoughts on it.
If you do want the complete story, however, I would strongly recommend playing it all the way from the beginning with The Longest Journey, which I personally feel is the best game in the series story-wise. If you really feel like you can't put up with the graphics for the sake of story (for which I shan't blame you; I feel the exact same way about Final Fantasy 7), move on to Dreamfall: The Longest Journey instead. It's got pretty decent graphics even by today's standards, and I'd argue that it's more relevant to the story in Dreamfall Chapters as it focuses primarily on Zoë Castillo and, later on, Kian Alvane - the main characters in Dreamfall Chapters.
2. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
3. Dreamfall Chapters
4. (possible future game) The Longest Journey Home
The Dreamfall games have their own arc, but tie in with the larger story of The Longest Journey, but with Dreamfall Chapters, a lot of the Dreamfall arc will close, leaving the full conclusion (depending on if the developers can do it) to happen in The Longest Journey Home.
So basically:
-You can play just Dreamfall Chapters but you'll be lost on some things. If you can accept that, go for it!
-If you want the most backstory on Zoe+Kian's journey, then start with Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
-If you want the most backstory, period, start with April's journey in The Longest Journey.
finally a guy with some sense on these forums, you sir are an endangered species among the human race(if that makes any sense)
but seriously, I care about both the graphics AND the story, just because a storyline is good doesn't excuse it's bad graphics and vice versa. And since you are immersing yourself in the game world, a sub-par graphics will directly affect your experience with the storyline, hence I said I can't stand the older graphics. But that does't mean I shouldn't play these games(also, watch your tone, you could easilllllly piss someone off here), it merely means I should play these type of games with more updated graphics
The thing is you can play however you want but these games I rather have a full game then chapter by chapter... the walking dead first season, I played one episode and I stopped, life is strange, I played 3 and I was like wtf no I have to wait months untill the next is out,.....
In the end its all about how you want the experience the game, I personally wait for these games to be fully released, game of thrones, borderlands are the same thing....:P
to compare it, its like reading a good book, you read some chapters, then it stoppes, I rather have the whole book and see how it ends then read a chapter and wait for months but again its a matter of experience, so the choice is yours
for me Dreamfall: The Longest Journey was nearly impossible to play with a mouse and keyboard so I tried using a controller and must say that it was much much better and easier to play with a controller.
