Balance shifts

What effect does it have on a game? Are there any good theories on how it might change the ending? Will it affect your game only, or combined player balance could change it for everyone?
Can it be connected to April Ryans fate? Since all the juicy dreamfall conspiracies disappeared into thin air, That's the only storyline I care about in Chapters. Could not care less about fate of ressistance etc.

I have this feeling balance shifts have been snuck into the background and might be part of some major reveal.

I've been wanting to ask around about the outcome of things like, if you killed Na'ane, do you then lose Enu after the attack on the Enclave or would Enu just have recovered on her own. Because of the auto-save feature (don't understand why you just can't save manually, but at least there were frequent enough saves in 4 that if you played forward, then had to quit, you didn't lose much. Book 4 plays so quickly, I wouldn't mind going back and not helping Likho onto the cloudship but it would be so easy to figure out where then you wanted to reload if you wanted to continue with your original choices. Have to admit I like the icon showing you made a choice in preference to the "Your choice had consequences" text.

I guess in a game like this, there can't ultimately be millions of endings. I feel like most choices in a single decision eventually get you to very similar circumstances down the line or the game would be unmaginable (or it would have been developed and distributed by Bethesda!

Balance shifts are decisions that make major influence on game outcomes, as far as I understand. For example, yes, if you get rid of Na'Ane, Enu dies; if you leave Likho, he dies, but Shepherd lives, etc.
