Saga's Parents
Does Saga's home life just.... really bum anybody else out?

I feel so sad for her Father and felt robbed when we get absolutely no closure or explanation as to what happened to him. Clearly, he left at some point. But why? Was he finally convinced that Etta was never going to come back and decided to search for her, since he was no longer able to keep Saga in the house? Why did her mother go missing in the first place?

The explanation that the House of All Worlds should always lead the family back to the house is obviously not true. It's also strange to me that this house just sort of.. exists in what.. its own plane of reality..? Was Saga's Mother also a Shifter? I've found no evidence to support that she is, but none of it makes sense to me.

I felt oddly attached to her Dad, especially. I wanted the adult version of Saga to see her old Dad when she returned to the house, just one last time. I kept feeling sad that her Mother never returned and that there was no closure with any of this. :( Maybe somebody can give me their thoughts or point out something that I've missed?

Same as you, I wish the game told us a bit more about Saga's family.
Somehow, I've always had a feeling that Brian Westhouse is Saga's father, that went somewhat crazy and started to blame magic in his misfortune after both, his wife and daughter, left him.

I just finished the game and feel exactly the same. It is so weird that they have this entirely unexplained plot, I kept waiting for clarification. I don't get it.

Also, what was the white light in relation to Saga - it said she was Saga's "mother-sister." Is this like... Saga reincarnated or something? Or is it the White Dragon? And if it's the White Dragon, how is she related to Saga? I'm just so confused.

If I remember correctly, it was the White Dragon - Saga mentions this during the Epilogue (one of my favourite parts in the game). Not sure how they are related though.

When Saga is putting up her drawings and explaining the story, she says the girl named after spring (April) meets her real mother, the White Dragon. And then when Saga is a baby, the white form says something about being reborn - which I think they also say about April. Which makes me think that April/White Dragon/Saga are all sort of the same person just reborn?

Though that still doesn't answer anything about Etta and Saga's father, which is just so depressing. Also who is herUncle Galanthe? She only knows three people in her world, and we never see one which is weird.

Yeah, Uncle Galath is another mystery here. I wish it was a reference to some character from The Longest Journey or Dreamfall, but I don't remember anyone with that name. I also wish we could meet Saga's mother in one of these games like we met Shepherd in Dreamfall not knowing who she really is.
When describing the drawing, Saga says, that April meets her (April's, not Saga's) real mother. So I thought that April was reborn into the next White Dragon, indicating that being a White Dragon is probably hereditary phenomenon.

I just rewatched the discussion with Abnaxus and Zoe about April - Abnaxus says April is the Spring Dragon, and that she and the Girl Who Walks Between Worlds are one, but two -mortal and immortal, human and kin. So it does make it seem as though Saga and April are sort of one person but two? Saga is sort of April reborn?

Wow, I totally forgot about that part. Well, maybe you are right and "Saga and April" pair is one more element of the Balance (same as Dreaming and Undreaming or Zoe and Lux).

This would make a lot of sense. It can be hard to keep up with this series though. There's a lot to unravel.

Yea, I just replayed it for all the achievements (the replayability of this game is low though lol), and there are a lot of hints that Saga is essentially April reborn. She remembers April's story - depicting it in her drawings as a kid, she paints herself in places April has gone, but she hasn't. They both have an affinity for art, and are bonded to Crow. I think they are supposed to similar to the relationship of Zoe and Lux (which I also don't fully understand).
To me the answer is in the first game " the longest journey" so Spoilers alert for the game the longest journey!!!!! (i'm French so my english is not perfect)

SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS !!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS !!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS !!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!SPOILERS !!!!!!

I think Saga is April, and the father is Cortes and the mother is the white dragoon. The Uncle ( maybe the sea dragon or the black dragon in TLJ)
In "the longest journey", in April's room she says the she brought drawings from childhood in a blue blox, the box is in the cupboard (and guess what in the menu of the game it's !Saga's drawings coming from the same blue box. We learn in a book in arcadia's library that "the spirit of the dragoon is eternal" (words of the white dragon) so maybe not the envelop ( To me, Saga is the spirit of a dragon and become April when she lives the house) we learn also that Draickin come and live between stars ( like the house of Saga which is located between worlds).
We learn from Robert Clacks (he said April is a batard)
We learn that Cortes was looking for someone and waited April.
When April meet the dragon into the sea he says to her " i know you, you journey began with an answer that now you have the question ( reference to the meeting with the white dragoon she says to april that she is her own daughter
On the confrontation between Cortès and his brother , the brother said "that a family reunion, you dare come with her"

And in the final task before the gardien kingdoom, when April faces his father she has blond hair (she has eight or ten years old in the scene and we learn she is an adopted child (like Saga it's not a coincidence, April is blond ).

That's a very interesting insight, the detail about blue box with drawings from the original game is most fascinating!

The closure and explainations of all things you mentioned are going to happen in "The Longest Journey Home". It's a game that will be released... honestly, I have no idea when. During Dreamfall: Chapters Kicksharter campaign, TLJH was one of the stretch goals, but it wasn't reached. So Tornquist and RTG started development of Draugen instead.

Saga is indeed April reborn, however there can be also another connection. You see, it's quite possible that when little Saga drew her pictures of TLJ story she actually created that story. And the portal that appeared when you collected all the pictures, took Saga right into the TLJ game. At least that's how I interpret that, because the theme of "creating worlds though telling stories" appears in Dreamfall:Chapters several times (Storytime in the beginning, Lux as world-creating entity, etc).

The Longest Journey Home, the game i'm waiting the most since TLJ. I was so sad when they cancelled the game!! I hope someday ....it's the best rich, resistant and details story i played

One of then biggest faults of this game is not only not answering many questions from the previous games, but introducing new mysteries and not resolving them either. It was really frustrating to never find out what happened to Saga's parents.
Laeman Aug 10, 2022 @ 1:55pm
This may be right but from what is shown during the game is that Saga is a rather good shifter but April wasn't as she accidentally shifted and furthermore if Saga is April and started TLJ than we wouldn't have been able to play Saga as a 14 year old girl.
