Worth It? (NO SPOILERS)
So I've never even played the first game or the second game and I am wondering if playing the saga is worth it. I want to get the whole series now since it is on sale but I just wnat to know if it's all worth it in the end. I a person who can't get through something if the ending isn't satisfying. The ending can be sad, happy, bittersweet, or whatever, but i at least want the end to tie up most if not all of the loosed ends by the end of the entire series. Please No Spoilers, I just want to know if this whole series is worth it story wise.

It's totaly Worth It.

I've played all tree game. Story is very interesting. When I've finished Dreamfal: The longest journey (second game) I've be like "What?! And what next? WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ NEXT!!?". But developers say nothing, even more, publisher (Funcom) was not interesting in this franchise any more and switch derelopers to mmo projects that satisfine their finansial needs. :nuna:
For fans it was it,.. nothing,... silense for 8 years :curtis:.
Until creator o The Longest Journey and his team separate from Funcom to finaly finish this trilogy.
Process of development Dreamfall Chapters was hard, may be for some thing was not enough money or time (specialy time), but result is Worth It. :happyBUD:
Before play Chapters I've replay The longest journey and Dreamfal: The longest journey (and you'r rely need it to understand WTF is going on?).
When Dreamfall Chapters (and with it all TLJ saga) was finished I was satisfied at 100% =D
And after 3 days I've did it again O_O (replay Dreamfall Chapters) cose I want it? cose I want to see all threds of story.

Fieeuu I'm finish :2016watermelon:

Yes. If you don't want to play the first 2 games you should watch a walkthrough. The story is really good and this is a continuation.

Here is a good one.

I would say definately get the second game, it is pretty heavily connected with what is happening in Chapters and will fill in all the gaps and give the game an overall more complete feel. Think of it this way, playing Chapters without Dreamfall The Longest Journey is quite literally like picking up a sequel which just roughtly skims over the events of the first game and then continues telling the second part of the story. The creators did a really good job of immersing first time players into Chapters right away, but you're still missing a lot of the first half of Zoe and Kian's stories, as well as pretty much all of April's.

As for the original Longest Journey... eh. I got it, mostly because I've been a fan of this series for a very long time and I felt I had to play it all, but it didn't add much to the experience. There's a few neat connections to Chapters and it's always nice to have some backstory, and as a stand alone game published in the nineties it's pretty damn good, but I don't feel its altogether necessary. I guess it's more of a personal preference.

But yeah, the second game was great. And it's neat to revisit places you were in before and see how they've changed :)

I loved all 3 games, and I would definitely say they are all worth it. They are all a little different but lovable. I don't think you can fully appreciate Dreamfall Chapters without playing the first two games. The overall ending does tie up all the loose ends neatly and it is very bittersweet.

I haven't finished the third game, but I recomend playing them in order to understand whats going on.

I just replayed the first two games and am starting the third book later today. The second game has held up surprisingly well but the first game (TLJ) was a bit a of a slog to get through. Most of the humor felt dated, there's some annoyingly obtuse puzzles and a lot of long stories from slow speaking characters. I kind of wish I hadn't replayed it because I had fond memories of it and it's diminished somewhat now.

That being said the second game was a lot more satisifying because it revists a lot of locations and characters from the first game. I wouldn't say storywise the first game isn't absolutely necessary though. You could just read a synopsis if you can't get into it.

The bad thing about the second game is the fighting and the stealth. Other than that it is a huge improvement over TLJ. TLJ can easily be windowed out of to view the walk through you will likely need. It's good for the story basis.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heretic scum who didn't like TLJ. My god, in what world we are living here?

OP, play the first game: it's one of the best if not the best Point 'n Click adventure ever made
