TRIBE NINE

I love Danganronpa. I'm worried starting this game as a new player and the gacha shutting down.
Do we have another Limbus Situation where it doesn't matter it'll stay up?

Limbus is a poor comparison. Project Moon are a small independent studio, and it took them very little money to make Limbus. Despite what people say, Limbus made all of it's money back within a couple months and the Director advised a year ago that he could pay his entire team's wages for years just from the profits. The game itself was designed in such a way that it isn't expensive to update either, as a 2d game with very few complex animations outside of EGO

Tribe Nine is a much bigger endeavour with full 3d models, animations and extensive explorable environments etc. Akatsuki really need to turn it around in a big way because there's no way it's sustainable.
if you're gonna treat this game as an investment it might make sense to be worried about the game's future but I would recommend to anyone that just likes anime-style games to play through this game's story just because that in itself is well worth experiencing.

Game is good enough to play and experience the story at least. Too many people are too worried about games being an investment rather than something to enjoy.
There was a translated interview on the reddit right before Chapter 3 released where they said EoS wasnt anywhere in sight right now, and they had a few years of stuff ready to go. People were worried if Hundred Line doesnt sell well that Tribe Nine would be scrapped. Basically said they dont actually have a connection to Hundred Line, and they're entirely different teams/companys. But the game has done well enough by their standards so far, that they're in it for the long run right now until atleast the story of 24 Cities is finished.

Now, they could be lying I guess to just not scare people away, but they seemed pretty confident they were going to be around for a few years atleast.

They did not say EoS wasn't anywhere in sight. They said they didn't want to think about EoS or a time after EoS and had no plans to continue the game offline were it to EoS. Nowhere did they claim they wouldn't EoS or that they'd "stick around for years".

and at the same time, no gacha dev ever is going to say "EoS soon, we are thinking about EoS actually" because it'd kill all trust in the game's longevity.

You might be right, and I'm misremembering it. Its been close to a month since the interview, I just remember a lot of friends being hyped about it and probably got swept up in it as well. I still think we got a few years of the game though (Hopium!). Especially since 90% of the game is 2D Sprites so its likely not crazy expensive to keep stuff rolling.

I know their pay back from Mobile isnt very high, but I also know 3 people who play on PC and spent crazy money as well so its hard to see how much they're making.

I desperately hope this game sticks around, I'm absolutely loving it. But I just want to make sure everyone is being realistic about it. So far Akatsuki have definitely stuck by what they've said in their interview and are actively pushing to find something to turn it around and I'll keep doing what I can to support it myself.
Do you still play every game that you have ever played? Interest in game eventually fades whether you stop having fun or the game "dies" and the only thing that should matter is the time you enjoyed playing them,

If you liked the characters in Danganronpa there is a lot here to keep entertained, including off-topic interactions between characters now and then. Not to mention really talented voice actors.

The episodic nature of the history also is a plus IMO. Like waiting for the next season of an anime.

I'd recommend to just try the game F2P, which is completely viable early to really end-game, and go from there.

I think I spent way more in games that didn't keep my interest for as long this game has.

i don't often take time to post, but, i avoided gacha games for like 10 years. i finally dipped my feet into it with zenless and now this. what i eventually game to feel, is:

i think of these like how arcade games were. i pay a small amount(if i even do that, gacha can be free to play) and enjoy a moment in time.

live in the moment, dont worry about "owning things" because that's how these games feel. and it's just my opinion, but, i've never seen anyone else express it, so yeah. arcade like. instead of a couple of quarters though, it's occasionally, a month or so, i spend like 5 dollars.

hope this helped :YuukaHappy:
I mean the only thing we can do as a community is spread the word of the game and support it within our means. Personally I have enjoyed it so I spent some on Tribe Nine and picked up Hundred Line.

I haven't really read the other comments because they seem to reassure you that it won't shutdown.

I would say that is actually more reason you should play it now because you can never play it again if it does shutdown.

This game is technically a gacha but if you just want to enjoy the story, the free units are good and free currency for rolling is generous enough. (The card meta, out of 5 slots, 2 are the free cards that you start the game with.)

The game also is very account deletion friendly, which means you can rinse and repeat the first pulls until you get the character you want.

I honestly am not nearly as attracted to the characters (and cards since they do have art) compared to DR but I still open my wallet because I'm hoping doing it supports Kodaka/Tookyo Games (and DR 4/sequel that will never come lol).

At the end of the day, any gacha can eos if they don't receive enough support.
There are also gacha games that go on for years w/o much update or support but they won't eos.
Enjoy what you got, don't worry about the long term of stuff. I find the game very enjoyable in both the playstyle and storyline.

i wouldn't I"m hearing the game isn't making much in money, you could log in and just check out the story, but no point if the game is ends up EoS the story will never be finished then.

Game fulfills a niche, I was shocked to realize "gacha gamers" are actually a thing and that it's a genre people look at. Unfortunately I don't see anyone else really talking about this game. I think the story is interesting, but every single one of my friends has valid reasons of why the game immediately turned them off from it, whether it's the gacha/mobile "look" or the way the combat currently is. It's a hard sell when you compare it to the first trailer that ended up being an anime and the fact that it's a gacha where I would rather purchase a game than gamble e-points.
