However story XB in chapter 1 used to be longer due to how everyone has character interaction with Number 1# in every single turn (unlike in release version where some turn is skipped automatically, you have to play every turn in beta and in all of those have character interaction). For example Tsuki in beta has both normal interaction and Verity Orb interaction playing within same turn vs you only get to see one of them depending on whatever you use Verity orb or not in release version.
And during defense phase. In beta Gotanda has character reaction with the enemies team (every single one of those tribe members) this exposed a lot of his character and showing the absolute despair and submissive state of tribe members. In release version you only get to see the one with Verity orb variety which is like one or two at most.
For easy reference. Beta XB story dialogue is 1 hour and half length minimum vs the release one likely last around half an hour.
Damn, I wish I could read it...
They also cut a lot of the introduction for Trash Tribe characters, which is quite a shame because some of them don't have a lot of screentime elsewhere during the first chapters.
It's a shame they had to cut it short, but seeing the amount of criticism that told them "too much story" during the beta feedback, I'm sadly not surprised.
You can still watch this content on youtube, as there are still a few walkthrough of the beta version around.
But a lot of dialogues and scenes from Chapter 0 and Chapter 1 were deleted for the Demo in October 2024. And even
more were removed for the release version.
And now they deleted a lot of dialogues for the 1.0.10 update for some reason... It just breaks
my heart, now the story is too short and not enjoyable at all.
I also think they should re-add everything now that we have a skip button. Or at least they should add all deleted dialogues, scenes and character interaction as optional dialogues. That way everyone would be happy, right?
I highly recommend for players who are interested in the story to watch Deadly Playtest walkthrough on Youtube or somewhere else. There are so many interesting dialogues that were not added in Deadly Demo and game release.
If Ch 3 is going to be similar to Ch 2 (a gigantic fetch-quest with essentially nothing major happening and not much character development besides right before XB and after it) I think they took the wrong message of everyone.
Please! Devs! We wanna enjoy your story! Add it all back! And add more!
They literally took a message from feedback about having too much story and dialogue back in play test and deadly demo (and there's skip/fast forward button there too) then implant it genuinely believe it would make people having better experience with a game.
I disagree with that decision and have zero idea why they took that kind of message thinking it would make their game better.
Not gonna hope much if I were you tbh. At this point they could randomly take any ragebait seriously and implant it just because their voice is louder or something. Not to mention Chapter 3 is likely written with those feedbacks in mind, which mean it could be made short from the beginning, and adding more would require more resource and time for them unlike the prologue and chapter 1 where they could add them back if they still keep the original voice acting files and script.
Hopefully, since they're delaying, that means we're getting more than originally expected...
They've received some feedback about re-adding it too- so maybe they'll do that!
Hope dies last, as they say!
After they removed even more dialogue and story in the 1.0.10 patch, I'm pessimistic
