That climb part at the end of game....
This is bit of a rant, but I just have to let off some steam...

I've been enjoying this game a lot. It has been fun little platformer and the feeling of nostalgia is great too (since I've played the original). But.... that f-ing.... climb... at the end... is seriously the WORST thing I have ever encountered in platformer game. It may not be the hardest thing ever no, but to put a sequence like that at the end of game after final boss is just stupid. It's massive difficulty leap that makes no sense. If it was in middle of level I would not mind too much about it, but to go through the entire level (which takes quite some time thanks to lenghty boss encounter) only to fail at the very end in this super tightly tuned part is just madness. Heck, if it was only that "try to catch your dime before glomgold/magica catch it", it would have been fine. You may argue that "hey games were hard in the past" and yeah they were but Ducktales wasn't. It was among the more easier nes games and for most part this remake has done good job in keeping that same level of difficulty.

This thing is just completely ruining my fun with this game. I enjoy challenge, but I have never been huge fan of timed challenges where you have to make quick decisions and make zero mistakes. I almost wish someone made a remake of this remake where they replace the end jumping hell with the old climb from the old game, that would make my day.

please play Psychonauts and then come back here to apologize.

The original was much harder than this. Unless you are playing on the hardest setting the this is definately harder.

That climb at the end is rough. I'm stuck at that point right now and have just gotten frustrated, so I'm letting it sit for a couple of days.

The rest of the game is fine. OP is talking about the end sequence after the final boss, which wasn't anywhere near this difficult in the original NES game.

I have to say I agree - I've attempted it well over 300 times now, and I can only manage to catch the 3rd chain in the sequence once every 30 attempts or so, even though I'm not varying my approach from successes to failures. In fact, catching any chain when jumping from a previous one seems to be randomized (though I know it's likely not). Even then, the timing has to be so pinpoint that it is not in proportion with the controls I have at my disposal. Maybe using a gamepad meets with more success? I use a keyboard alone.

It's really not hard at all guys, but it requires a small trick.

I'll either record it later since I don't have video of it myself, but from the platform, jump off the start and grab the third rope (might be the second platform... I forget). Either way, if you pogo off the ramp and land on the second or third rope, you'll have more than enough time to complete it. If not, I admit it's pretty close, especially on hard difficulty jumping from rope to rope.

I definitely didn't mind the challenge though.

I have completed it, and like I said in my opening post, it's not the hardest thing in the world. It's just the damn thing doesn't really allow any mistakes. I have not much interest of trying to complete this game in extreme difficulty because I know that I probably end up screwed by the end (especially in Extreme where at the end I'm most likely a nervous wreck with the fear of dying and losing my last lifes). I could practice doing it to perfection, but then again it takes so damn long to get there, that it just isn't fun.
It's kind of hard to explain, but there's one part of the climb halfway up where you can just pogo to a block higher up and skip the hardest bit of chain grabs. Once you're there, you can bounce up to another block, and then onto the ending block. it makes it sooooo much easier.

I think I know the sequence you're talking about. It's after you regain the Number One Dime and the lava is really coming up. There's a part where the game would normally encourage you to go left, followed by a bunch of chains going from bottom-left to top-right, followed by a couple more pogos and the end. But those chains can be skipped by going *right* instead, where there's only one chain and it'll get you up faster.

I have more problems up to the part with the Number One Dime, but this trick does help a lot.

For the number one dime bit, just remember you don't HAVE to pogo jump everywhere, i understand it's really easy to trick yourself into thinking that though. There's one specific jump, i think the one with lots of darker blocks, where it's easier to pogo to the lower half, then run and jump normally into the alcove above. That part game me trouble at first too.

I can see all of that, but I physically can't get the game to recognize that I'm grabbing for the third chain. I press up as I'm falling toward it, but it dumps me in the lava every time. It's not a timing issue, or anything like that. It's simply that what works on every other chain in the game doesn't work on that one. I catch every other chain just fine. That one kicks my tailfeathers.

There are some parts where you have to jump without the pogo stick. That's what made it so hard for me, I was trying to make some jumps with the stick that are 100X easier without it.
