Count Dracula Duck?
I was replaying this and I mean, why name a character Count Dracula Duck? They just took a real person and tacked Duck on the end of it. Count Quackula was RIGHT THERE and instead they went with Count Dracula Duck.

I mean Count Quackula was an easy slam duck am I right??

Real person? While he was loosely based on Vlad Tepes, you can't really say Dracula was real.

The game is from 1989, 30 year old decision probably made on a deadline. Since its not a character from the show, it's a name from some random game designer and not someone writing or caring about the series names or lore

Fine not a real person but an already established ubiquitous literary character. If I weren't 100% sure the person who wrote that died of old age years ago I'd say they should've been fired for such an overlooked bit of schtick. Or at least tarred and feathered.

No reason to believe they died. They could easily still be alive and only 50 to 80 years old. 30 years is long, but not long enough to guarantee someone is dead, they could have been 20 to 50 when they did it

This is true. The writers for this game may not be dead. I can at least be certain that your sense of humor died long ago. :p

You assume I ever had one.

Touché.
The avoided cartoon names were Count Duckula (a Danger Mouse spinoff which actually ran concurrently with Ducktales) and the even lesser-known Quacula.

Ah, so I guess it *was* obvious, so much so that it was already copyrighted by others. That fits the bill I suppose.

Let's just say the pun was an obviously good idea, so they're really just birds of a feather.

It may have been too close in copyright to COUNT DUCKULA, another 80s show from Canada. Thats all I can guess!

Might've been good. In the first episode of the new Ducktales there's a gag about a snowstorm on the Drake Barrier Reef. So Disney has gone down that rabbit hole for puns.(down like from a goose)

"Duck" is a common surname for very much any anthropomorphic duck characters in the Disney universe and it's related media, so much so that it have also become a common status symbol like a royal descent of sort from the likes of the DuckTales franchise. Both Scrooge and Donald have various famous ancestors whose last name is Duck in the DuckTales and Disney universe lore.
