Game stopped working, Steam version

1. Purchase and install steam version
2. Play for a few sessions, roughly up to where you switch characters to the red-head in the coat and the jar with a new body.
3. Save, quit.
4. Game no longer launches.
5. Verify integrity of game cache, does not help.
6. Uninstall, reinstall, still the same problem.
7. Works on other PCs.

Generally if the game stops working after working previously, it's one of these problems:

1 - The game files have been corrupted. Uninstalling and reinstalling should fix this (which you've already tried).

2 - You've installed something on your computer since starting the game that is interferring with the game. Certain audio manager programs in particular have been known to mess things up at times.

#2. Nothing installed since. Nothing from Steam or otherwise.

#3. Uninstalled this, but no difference. The executable launches for about a second in the task manager, then closes with no error messages.

I can only hope this doesn't happen to me, for I am enjoying this game greatly so far.

Indeed. I have enjoyed it so far as well, and I'd rather finish it where I started it. These things happen.

Any updates on this issue? Is this going to be addressed beyond these steps or should I consider this a lost cause?
