Women
I like women, but I did not know Spain in the 16th century was such an equal society...
Woman make up half of the roster, in all roles.

AFAIK the 16th century may have had strong women, especially if they were royalty or at least nobility, but apart from the exeptional case they did not belong on the frontline of the conquista.

I'd like to have an option to reduce the number of women and only in more historical correct roles, because as it stands it is the only thing that is really distracting me as in removing the sense of disbelieve and placing this game in a modern veneer.

Arriba!

You realize you can just pick a team of 100% men right? And then just reject any women you come across. You're asking for an option that already exists.

No it is the whole game.
I already did that, but only within the first few minutes I come across two female soldiers.

The Spanish sent men exclusively to the new world. That's why hispanic is such a big thing today, all these Spanish soldiers ended up with native wives, while in North America the religious exodus from England was both sexes.

Er, no: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In%C3%A9s_de_Su%C3%A1rez. There were female conquistadors; they just weren't as common. The game makes them a lot more common, admittedly, but it's not inaccurate to have them exist.

Spanish women were not allowed in the new world unless mairried thus accompanied by a male. So the equal ratio of men and women characters is a little annoying..

Expection does not make a rule.
I don't want to be like a troll who makes a big thing out of a small detail.
The game is fun, although I have only tried the opening stages.

As a thought I'd just like to suggest that besides the "equal opportunity" version of the game, they might add a more historically correct rendition of the very Catholic world of the conquista.

I was plesantly surprised that there were so many women. And in every class too. It's nice.

I am agree with TS.

There are too many women in the game. And when we are talking in context of conquista of 16th century women number could be reduced at least twice in the game.

The game isn't really meant to be historically accurate even though it's based on real history. Think it of as medieval fantasy-lite. One of the writers even stated that he would have put a homosexual romance in the game if he knew how to write one.

A single example out of tens of thousands doesn't change the fact that the Spanish didn't bring women with them and therefore the men mated with native women, wiseguy.

I understand that it is a game, and most gamers are male, and they like bein or seein females in games, but I also agree with the TS. So far it seems at least half the soldiers are females. It is a bit much and I would rather have more realistic choices or maybe a custom option to make your own, thereby people who like can make females, natives, english, aliens, etc etc.

That would end any interest I have in buying the game.

You can play as badass male chauvinist pig if you want and kill off all the female companions that want to join up.

So to keep it historic accurate. including killing the amazon faction.
And then slaughtering the natives.

Infact I thought the game was very well done in historic accuracy that you can do all those things. including racisme and other issue.
So good to admit you are a natural redneck SOB.

Hurray even more support for the next conquistador from me.
Cause of the writer being openminded. and this coming from a pure straight hetero person.
Who is proud to be hetero. but atleast can be openminded about other people sexual preferences. as long the other people are not acting like redneck homosexual SOB.
