In My Opinion, Terrible Game, Here's Why!
Greetings... So, I don't usually make these types of posts, but this game has really frustrated me, and I had high hopes for this game as side scolling brawlers and fighting/melee games are some of my favorites. I'll try to keep this short, and just list some of my frustrations which ruin this game for me. Also, I understand not many of you will agree, but please don't take offense I am merely expressing my opinion.

So, first let me just say that the actual gameplay is fairly nice. The combat and such isn't too bad and if it were not for poor execution and mechanics the overall gameplay would be quite enjoyable. However, as it is the character control is really not very solid, jumping around feels very linear and the overall feeling of movement I think is lacking. The actual attacks on the other hand are quite nice, but the movement itself feels as if it's not calibrated very well, if that makes any sense lol.

My next gripe, and probably my biggest gripe of all, is the overall UI and interface for the game. It's absolutely terrible, and since that makes up a large portion of the actual game I just can't bare to deal with it for what is only a mediocre gameplay at best. The UI is confusing, has tons of strange bugs, and honestly it just doesn't make sense. I feel as though the developers really did not take the time to organize things and make the connections between the UI sections fluid.

Just as a quick few examples, when first playing the game you can't access settings until you get to the village, unlike every other game in existence where you first go through a title screen and can setup the game... This one thrusts you right into a level which you apparently can't access the options menu from. It also doesn't help that the game does not automatically optimize the settings, so when I first started the game my resolution was way off and in windowed mode. I spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get to options.

Another example here, turning on a gamepad is absolutely ridiculous. Why is there not just the simple option of enabling a gamepad, or why isn't gamepad just automatically enabled when detected? The way you turn the gamepad on makes no sense, and unless I am missing something, I don't see how one would really figure it out without googling or at least fiddling through every option.

Now, those are just 2 small examples, and of the short time I played the game I had at least a dozen of these types of issues. I was almost willing to overlook it until I started looking through the various panels and the shop... Pay to win? No thanks, especially not when the game is frustrating to begin with, and the store is a sloppy mess. To the point where I said, F it, this is really terrible and just a mess...

Anyways, like I said no offense. Some of you probably won't agree, but I really don't see how anyone could disagree that the interface and ui, and overall feel of the game is lacking in a rather large way...

Peace

PS, what's this about a stamina bar that once runs out you can't play the game for the rest of the day? Are you serious??? That's just, well... Why? Just further pushes that the game is terribly executed.

If it took you 5 minutes to decide the game was "pay to win". Then you haven't given the game enough time, or you're the really impatient type that has no place here.

The UI for the most part I'm fine with. It's an improvement over what it was before (and that was pretty cluttered compared to what we have now). The options you could access by pressing ESC (which is pretty much the standard for most MMOs). You mentioned that there's strange bugs in the UI...but how do you those really are bugs? You haven't even played it for 20 minutes and you determine that it's a bug? I read through your most, and none of them really come off as legitmate complaints.

Character mobility...depends on what character you're playing. And they all start with 0 stats in movement/jump speed anyway.

Gamepad I can't say much about that, although I do agree that they messed that up recently. But I still feel more comfortable playing with a keyboard to execute most of my mobility options anyway.

And the pay to win thing...honestly you and everyone else that makes keeping this claim are jumping the gun. I've been playing the game since OBT (3 years before it made it to steam offically), and this is probably one of the few MMOs that doesn't give cashers an incredible advantage over non-cashers. Nearly everything that's available in the cash shop can be sold on the player market. Do you even know what's being sold on the cash shop, let alone what they do when you made the assumption the game was pay2win?

And poorly executed...the game's been around for three years now. I really can't say it's "poorly executed" when it's been around for that long. It was only yesterday that it got put on steam for new players.

I just found it stale and generic, I was bored and moved on but thats a preference, My friend loves the game though I will give it more tries before I completely move on.

As someone who played Grand Chase for a year, Elsword was basically the go-to game for dungeon play. Looking back 3 years ago, both games suck.

That's just preference, and the game just won't appeal to everyone. The problem with the OP though is that he's nit picking on things that are really questionable...like determining that the UI is bugged after playing the game for 20 minutes, and saying its pay to win just by "glancing" the cash shop.

Oh. My. God.

Give it a try, dude, don't go firing out how boring it is if you haven't even played up to lvl 35... Tis is just hilarious to read. I'm sorry, but it is.

I just wanna say i've played the game nonstop (i mean also leaving it running while afk) for about 17 hours so idk... how is that supposed to work?

Opinions from someone that came from DFO to this game after the closing of it. I played the game for 7 hours today while doing as much studying of this game as I possibly could:

UI - Bugs? Didn't encounter anything that would've struck me as a bug. It's not too cluttered and everything is laid out before you in a simplistic manner. It may not be YOUR cup of tea, but I don't mind it at all.

Pay-to-Win - I am a sucker for Vanity. I tossed some money at this game because I was easily appealed by the looks of the items on the character avatars. HOWEVER, I can immediately tell that the costumes nor the stats that come with them give a significant edge over those who play with a more self-finding/'pure' way. If you think this game is ' Pay-to-Win' then you haven't played enough of these types of games.

Stamina - The Blitz System in DFO is similar to this so I got used to it, immediately. Sure, I am upset that I do not have the option to grind balls to the wall all day, but I understand the reasoning behind these types of systems. To prevent mass farming/power leveling. If this doesn't fall under the category of ' common sense ' then I do not know what to say. IMO, This doesn't make the game ' poorly executed ' at all.

Controls - I played with a Joystick in DFO so naturally I attempted it in this game. While there is much to be desired, it isn't completely terrible. I still prefer it to the keyboard as playing any other game aside from RTS' feels strange. It's all preference, really~

From the look of your post, you weren't instantly satisfied so you immediately took your frustration here. I suppose that's the kind of generation it is...

Stamina is to slow down leveling up and enjoy the game a little bit more. You can do everal things without stamina, tho. Also, stamina gauge let's you play little more than 4 hours if playing in 4 player party all the time.
Luna Jul 25, 2013 @ 10:42pm
they give away potions to refil the stamina gauge all the time, I got more then 10 of those things stacked up, but I don't play for dungeons much mostly just for the sparring and arena, plus usually if you play 3 characters or 5 like some, you'll never run out of stamina.
Only thing is the game wont let me run it through stream right now for some reason?
Qvnt Jul 25, 2013 @ 11:00pm
...methinks this is BS.

So you're saying you need to play hours and hours of the game before you can criticize its flaws which are apparent from 1-2 hours of playing? Your reasoning is out of hand.

Personally, I can't even get this game to start, so I pretty much left it there.
