No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dip it sucks! You know why? Cuz all of the new characters that were made are getting more braindead! EASIER manuveuring (especially for Ara and Rose) and ♥♥♥♥ crazy damage input. And Elboy has been like this forever, which is why I always state that it takes more skill to master Elboy then the newer braindead characters that only need to spam XXX to win, lol. And out of all of the Elboys, LK is the hardest to master (I main an LK). Yet still, people ♥♥♥♥ on Elboys and call them "stoic spammers" when Ara, Elesis, and Lu have literally 30 seconds of super armor for their skills, LOL. And to even go in on this more...whenever there were nerfs and "balancing"...ELSWORD ALWAYS GOT THE WORST!!!! After every "balancing" he got nerfed! Especially LK (Eventually IS got some nice buffs for skills and Trans tho)! While the other newer characters got only a little nerfs or none at all (ARA). And also something to note...KOG literally hates Elboy! They always put him off, and let Elesis be in the limelight, Rena, or Ara lol. You notice that? Elboy never get's the spotlight even though his name is used as the title of the game.
:^)
If you feel sluggish on Elboy, then you must realize how stupidly fast the other characters are an how imbalance and unfair it is sometimes. Yet people claim it's the "players" fault that people aren't good in the game. I argue that it's due to disadvantages for the character, and most disadvantages are in Elboy. Plus, you've only played Elboy for like a couple of hours lol. So instead of complaining about it, get accustomed to his playstyle for about a week or two, and you will be better.
Intro
But yea, obviously learning the steppings and X drop really enhances Elboy A TON. Like spring step, circle step (potentially gives you mastery of high jump, the way I see it), and X drop. X drop is easier on Raven(easiest is Elesis, imo), but if you know how to do X drop, then you all set as an Elboy. Although X drop is probably the hardest thing to learn on Elboy(im still learning it, gg). Because some characters don't even need to learn how to do the steppings or X drop, that makes being an Elboy more awesome, cuz there's always room for improvement! Thats why Elboy will always be my main! So check out many YouTube vids for how to do these, they'll help you out so much! You can practice in training mode, but the best way is trying to do a 1v1 in town with your friend as a dummy since you don't lose or gain RP in rematch arena, and it gives you the real sense of battle rather than spar which increases your MP gain and speed when you battle in practice mode.
ALSO, another thing to point out is the "WTOS" system. The Way of The Sword is Elboy's bread and butter, the destruction and vitality mode. Not many Elboys focus in on that system, and I KNOW that I want to master that as well. I've noticed that there's only a few RARE elboys that notice the power and HUGE advantage in the WTOS system, and I try to take advantage of that too. It takes a lot of things into effect, and I think it's the longest thing to learn about Elboy and that certain class you choose. Certain melee moves you use with the Z and X key can increase or decrease the WTOS bar in your favor of Destruction(Des) or Vitality (Vit). Des gives you higher attack for skills and super armor, while Vitality gives you an increase of MP gain and lowers the MP consumption for your skills. Skillmoves are also supported by WTOS and are either Des or Vit(Ex. Arma Blade and Luna Blade is Des, Phantom Blade is Vit). If one knows how to take advantage of the melee moves that increases or decreases the bar in their favor AND the skills that are either Des or Vit, they'll be the PERFECT ELBOY. Do you know how much of an advantage that is? If you start out in a PvP match while trying to get Vit through the WTOS system by hitting certain melee combos, you can have the upper hand if you get Vit mode and will be able to use higher MP moves that cost 200 or higher in the first 30 seconds depending on how much you hit your opponent and NOT USE ANY SKILLMOVES. For an LK like me, that means I can start out with Arma Blade quicker and could even end the battle right there and then (Arma Blade literaly IMPREGNATES most people in PvP...no escape from the raging Boner Blade if you can play aggressive and close the gaps between combos, lmao). If you really wanna find out about the WTOS system and the certain melee combos that yield Des or Ves then check this page out: http://www.elwiki.net/w/Elsword There you can go to each class and check it out! (Blue = Vit, Red = Des)
Summary
So yeah, you're probably like "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...that's too much to think about!". But don't worry this'll be second nature to you later! I wasn't kidding when I said it takes more skill to master Elboy! I'm still tryna be the best Elboy in the game, myself! I have an Elboy sensei who is 10x stronger than me, and he's legendary lol. He still teaches me a ton of crap, cuz I still suck myself tbh, haha. If you really want a GOOD sense of how to play Elboy the right way then check out his channel, he has good stuff: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC179miFdXgMpMdkoochfOFg :)
Here's a list, if you don't want to read the word vomit over again, lol. I was also going to make a guide for Elboy sooner or later, but if you need anymore explanations and questions then you can friend me and I can teach you in-person a bit (IGN - RyuMuramasa[RS]):
- The important ones are: Spring step, Circle step (You'll learn high jump as you try to learn how to do circle step in both directions), and Sweeping (haven't told you that one before but it's the hardest to learn and timing is key on it! Watch YT vids for that!) You may know about V step, but it's not really important either, but just used to look cool and fancy haha. Platform latches/ledge hooks are good too and makes you move faster when you jump to platforms (EVERY SECOND COUNTS).
- I haven't also told you this before but learning KD Resets will make you a pro! KD resetting is when you combine melee and skillmoves at the right time to reset KD(Knockdown: when you fall over after you receive a couple of hits) which = HELLA LONG COMBOS. And if you have Plagued IV or you are able to cancel MB AND even be good at "Okis" (Okizeme: pressuring the opponent when the get knocked down, which means:" dont give them a chance to run or hit you as soon as they get up")...then you can literally have endless combos and your opponent won't even be able to hit you, lmao. You can learn some from many YT vids like this one from my ♥ senpai ♥, Kirby (no ♥♥♥♥, gg): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ssgs4mVKJI He has a lot of good vids, so check em out too!
- Learn what melee moves and skillmoves give you Des or Vit! A nice tip for you that also helps is that if you press "Z" or the light attack button for melee BEFORE you do an Active Skill (the ones with the least amount of MP - under 100MP) then you can execute the skill more faster and your motion is faster as well (VERY helpful and you look like pro haha, ex: press Z before you use Explosion fist or Armor Break and you can do it faster). Remember...HA and Trans skills CAN'T use the WTOS system since they are neither Des or Vit!
- Okizemes. I have mentioned this a bit, but if you want to be compeitive then you should also focus in on this as well! Okis are a very good way to always have an edge over your opponenets. If you are able to essentially "catch" them before they use skills or melee attacks on you, then you can win unscathed in every match! Okis can be utilitized in both melee attacks and skills! You can look up some vids for that as well! Some good okis for Elboy: LK - Mortal Blow and Rolling Smash, IS - Infinite Chase and Maelstrom Rage, RS - Triple Geyser and Sword Fire.
Conclusion
Welp, that's everything I know! GL with Elboy! And as a 4+ year vet for Elboy, always remember...no matter how much they ♥♥♥♥ on Elboy...we will always be the underdogs! It's what keeps me going and never to give up, m8. Have fun~ (owo)b
Ok, back to Mugen mode now ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, lmao :^)
EDIT: So yeah, I realized this guide was geared towards PvP stuff, so I apologize for that since you had questions that was more PvE based, lol. But, I think everything I said could still generally help you get better! My bad tho, haha! :)
Much obliged, friend, you're not such a bad guy when you aren't baiting forum scrubs. ;)
STFU YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥!
:')
lmfao.
