Crash on Start-Up Fix
If you are having problems with the game crashing right after you start it, Hold Windows+R and type %appdata%. Go to MKKE and there should be 2 files. (dxdiag.txt + options.ini) Open options.ini in notepad or Notepad++ and select all of the words in [Video] & [Audio] and paste this code there:
[Video]
Fullscreen = False
Windowed = True
Window = True
resolution = {1920, 1080}
antialiasing = 24
blend_antialiasing = 2
anisotropy = 16
max_texture = 4096
shadow_size = 4096
brightness = 0.500000
contrast = 0.500000
gamma = 0.500000
configured = true
[Audio]
device_hash = 0xFFFFFFFF
steam_voice = true

This code bypasses the auto configuration and the crashing. After you paste the code, save & exit. then set both files to read-only. this will stop the game grom reverting the file back to before it was changed.

Hope this helps!!!!!

No. I did the "read only" stuff. But it worked only a while....and the game was really slow. Lack of memory was the reason. Maybe I need a configuration less...demanding.
I mean, its not my laptop. It worked perfectly, only a month ago.

my fix for mk komplete crashing at startup was...searching %appdata%,roaming,mkke.options .....then i only switched the value for anisotropy & max texture to 1024. works fine since :),death to shau kahn :)

There says that you only have to change the texture value. I've changed my options from 512 to 1024, and it stopped crashing at the startup. But, the game is running really slow. When I play for a while....it crashes again (low memory).
At least, this is a start for me.

Runtime is redists. reinstall the redists at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MortalKombat_KompleteEdition\_CommonRedist

I've tried again and, the only thing that really works with me is, delete the entire MKKE folder. The game starts ok, but then requires to reconfigure itself everytime...at least it works (and gives me an excuse to keep playing).

how do you make both files read-only?

seethingword 22 ABR 2015 a las 10:41 a. m.
Right click>properties>Click read-only box>apply. do it with both files

Also for those who can't seem to find the MKKE forder, but are more likely to have this MKKE.exe instead. Check this out!

This is what i have found out by piecing things together.. (Windows 7 tested)
I did not have the ''common" MKKE folder/file, instead i have the MKKE.exe file.
How to get there.. First go to START and type steam.exe
Then go to Steam Apps...(followed by)...Common...Mortal Kombat_Komplete Edition.
Then you will see the following 2 maps/files (a) Common Redist, (b) DiscContent Pc.
Choose (b) DiscContent Pc and Right Click on MKKE.exe.
Change the compatibility mode to Windows 7.

Now play the game :) It really works!!!
Ps: It might crash the first time, but that's because of the auto settings and once they are okay, it will stay that way... Enjoy and let me know if it works for you guys?
