the malaria virus, You had to keep running back for pills and it killed the freeroam fun of the game, none of the other FC games did this
A close second is Farcry New Dawn. I liked the changeup from Farcry 5, and it was a neat little standalone set in an already existing world, with some interesting changes.
The latest is completely different in its feel -
This game feels exactly like the latest Assassin's Creeds to me - the Greek island one or the Egypt one - same tone, color palette, lighting, environment/land and general feel and ambience. It is like a clone of that island with guns but the movement of people etc. is just like in that game.
It's like making some foods - same base curries and just tofu and it's dish1, add potatoes and it is dish 2 etc. Minor tweaks to the same base.
I believe that this teaches us a valuable lesson that some people go through these types of situations in real life in some form or another - and its especially a serious wake up call to be nicer to everyone because you and I may or may not be aware of who out there is suffering and is unable to get that "freeroam" the freedom - that living a comfortable life offers. It is good to be grateful and thankful for everything that we have and we shouldn't take anything or anyone for granted. That said, I never finished the game but I played enough of it to be thankful that I don't have malaria. I also believe that FC2 still holds the record for the best fire physics of any video game period. Other more recent FC games also have spreading fire, but its been drastically nerfed. 6 seems to have pretty good fire so far, but I haven't played enough of 6 yet to really be able to accurately measure it up against the other games in the series.
I didn't think the malaria thing was that bad, honestly. In my 40 hours of playtime I think maybe 5-7 times I had to get pills? I dunno, it wasn't as intrusive as I was led to believe.
The biggest thing for me was how weak the vehicles were; which led to having to stop and repair after passing through every 2nd checkpoint because the gunfire from forever respawning enemies would ensure the vehicle would otherwise grind to a halt from damage if I didn't. Not even exaggerating when I say it was easily 600-700 times I had to repair the vehicle in my play-through. It ruined the flow of the game.
5 was meh
6 is pretty fun. Haven't got too far to really give an opinion on it but I like it so far a few hrs in
There is no insane person in Far Cry 2. The whole world is insane and the only sane one is the Jackal. He can't leave the country, because the one's controlling the war from outside (the people that brought you into the country to kill him) made him a wanted warlord internationally, so he balances the powers inside the civil war to be untouchable and safe there, instead.
Also the mindset and story of the Jackal, which is explained on the Jackal tapes in the game, is pretty deep, well thought out and give a 4th wall break into the real world issues, surrounding Africa and the 1st world continents controlling and looting it for their wealth.
Haven't played Primal yet.
FC3=best story in the series & arguably one of the best stories in games.Blood Dragon=♥♥♥♥ ton of dark humor & nice story & freaking awesome 80s atmoshpere.FC5=most polished gameplay in the series & one of the best singleplayer FPS out there, atmospheric as heck.
Broken stealth? I stealthed my way, silenced pistol and sniper rifle, through the game on infamous without healing. I'd also say that enemies did miss their shots, but admit they were far more challenging than what appeared in later titles. Maybe that's the problem people have with 2 as it was a challenge where the modern games hold little.
