Welcome back ISLANDERS fans to a fresh updated demo!
We took all of your feedback onboard from the 1st demo, and the devs have made multiple changes we think you’ll be pleased to see implemented into the new demo.

The demo is remaining open until ISLANDERS: New Shores releases (Summer 2025), keep your eyes peeled for exciting news coming soon…

So, what has changed in the updated demo?
Balancing Adjustments:

Fortune Teller: Score per building reduced from 3 → 2
Aviary: Max score increased from 100 → 125
Lumberjack: Penalty adjusted from -5 → -4
Bargain: Count reduced from 2 → 1; penalty increased from 4 → 5
Score Multiplier: 0.5 → 0.6
Reroll Charges: 4 → 5
Wisp: Score lowered from 5 → 4
Nature Interaction: Increased from 2.5 → 3 score

UX/UI & Visual Adjustments:

Replaced icon-based tooltips with default text (a highly requested change!)
Slight UI color tweaks to improve score preview visibility
Adjusted tint color to reduce confusion during illegal building placements
Improved wall platform placement for smoother gameplay
General polish and bug fixes
If you’d like the images or text to be larger, check out the settings! You can decide how large you’d like the UI to be

Demo Specific Updates

New island variations
Larger islands
Slightly extended gameplay (still limited to 3 islands!)
New “Duplicate” boon introduced, replacing “Bargain”
4 new buildings:
- Temple
- Harbour
- Verdure
- Guild Hall
New gameplay element:
- Sacred Rocks

You can play the brand-new demo RIGHT NOW!

This is the first time players can get hands-on with ISLANDERS: New Shores, and we can’t wait for you to try it. Whether you're a long-time ISLANDERS fan or discovering the series for the first time, this demo is your first chance to experience everything we’ve been building - pun totally intended.

Just some of what’s new in ISLANDERS: New Shores:

New Islands - Explore majestic new island types. Volcanic peaks in the “Lava” islands, or the tranquil beauty of the “Fantasy” islands.
Photo Mode - Capture and share your stunning island creations with customisable filters and a turntable camera.
Expanded Soundtrack - Enjoy 75 minutes of original music that sets the perfect mood for your building adventures.

ISLANDERS: New Shores

Demo causes Screen image to split and shake

Firstly I do have the original game you released and I'm not sure if that does the same but I run the demo and the demo split into 8 on the screen and just started shacking, then the monitor informed me it was at 1920x1080 at 60 which should be ok as that's what I have but in the end I had to force it close and restart the PC, I've had this happen with a few other demos before "What are you using for the default in Unity if that's the engine your using", so I cannot so far play the demo and put it on my YT...

Sooo excited for more Islanders

The demo was awesome! I'm really enjoying the new buildings, island styles, and the new mechanics: Boons, and choosing the next island. I'm really excited and for sure will be picking it up on 1.0. By the way, any hints when 1.0 will release? I'll be patient I swear... *goes to riot silently*...

Between villages, long distance points system

One idea is to create a points system where villages created far from each other can score points in some way. Currently, the system almost always gives more points when we group all the buildings one on top of the other, like terraces or platforms. In the demonstration, the idea of creating those fire pyres was a great idea. Let's imagine a new structure, bridges, where the distance between one village and another, the greater the distance, the more points. Or aqueducts to carry water from one city ...

Will owners of the original get a discount?

I'm asking because although these's a lot of new stuff, it's still a minimalist strategy game like the first one. So a lot of this stuff could've easily been added into the original, perhaps as a paid expansion. You'd be switching between these two games a lot, since they're very similar mechanically. Edit: Not sure what I said that's so hilarious. I thought I was asking a very normal question. Probably just trolls being trolls. There have been plenty of times where owners of the original got a discount,...
