is it worth playing hitman 2016 nowadays?

a key seller website that I use has a very good discount on the goty edition (don't worry, they are official sellers.). i know i can replay the missions with better quality in hitman 2 and 3 but they are extremely expensive where i live

There's also a lot of escalations in this that are not in the other games. Also the levels are different, even if the story is the same it's a different play experience

Playing this first has more and different replay value and then also gives you the legacy pack free in hitman 2 and the access pass free in hitman 3 for the corresponding locations, so free DLC you don't need to buy in the next two games

I've just picked the GOTY edition and after 14 odd hours so far I can say its well worth it.

Play Hitman 1 In Hitman 2 is even better

Other than skipping dozens of escalations and missing content, sure.

The locations are also retuned with changes, so it's a different experience.
