Sapienza?
I was looking for the real world location but could not find a single location in Italy called Sapienza. There's just a university in Rome with that name.
I wonder why they chose to use a fictional name.

Sapienza means Wisdom and I think they only make fictional locations but the design is based off of a real location normally

I know. It's based on the Luxembourg palace from Paris. I was refering to the general location. Paris is a real world location and so is Marrakech. Sapienza isn't. So I was wondering why they didn't use a real world name like Porto Venere or something.

Sapienza is basically Palais de Walewska. We know Sapienza is somewhere in Italy like we know Palais de Walewska is somewhere within Paris. They're both fictional names.

3rd map, Marrakesh is not fictional though...

Sapienza is probably just a fictional term for a section of Rome

Yeah but it would have been nice to narrow it a bit more. It's more like saying Palais de Walewska is somewhere in France. It could be in Lyon, Strasbourg, Marseille or any other large city.
We'll probably find out a more precise location when it gets launched.

It doesn't look like it's set in Rome. The devs said something about a coast town so it's definitely not Rome.

I was looking up where Sapienza might be just now... turns out the real world location is somewhere on the Amalfi coast. From a picture I saw of the waterfront, taken from the cathedral, it looks really close to the town of Amalfi.

Basically they used Amalfi and gave it a new name.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amalfi
The picture on the right is taken from the sea, that is similar to the coast in Sapienza. They could have used Amalfi but made their own version of it, I doubt many people would complain if it wasn't exactly like Amalfi. They could have even used the Amalfi Cathedral instead of the small church they have in game.

When Sapienza was first announced I actually thought it would be the university in Rome.
