HITMAN™

Something developers couldn't realize in spite of all these years
is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ soundtrack. Jesper Kyd's music made half of Hitman, I'm not joking. And music in this one is... You just can't compare it to previous. If you don't believe me make a little experiment and turn off ingame music. As for me game became much better without it at all

Disagree. I'm still thinking Blood Money was peak of the series, but not because of the music. Only memorable music in that is the brilliant Ave Maria, which is classical music, not by Jesper Kyd.

Tbh, I like music in this Hitman a lot more than anything Kyd ever did. In Sapienza there is some Bond-esque tones to the music, which fits perfectly since whole mission is Bond-esque. Music sounds like Bond music, but still not too much to keep it distinct and avoids the resemblance becoming comical. In this Hitman music never annoys me, the action music in Blood Money (after your cover was blown) was really annoying and made me turn the music off.

Music is matter of taste, and in very few games it's nothing more than background noise. Jesper Kyd is no genius, I have music collection of hundreds of real bands, with actual musicians, that are more talented than him. If I really would care that much about music, I would listen to them. But when I game, the game matters the most, music is irrelevant. In many good games I turn the music off, because it's bad anyway, even if everything else is good. Times of good game music are long gone, C64 and Amiga were the last platforms, where devs put any real artistic effort into it. Since then it's taken the backseat, 3D graphics being in forefront.

And Jesper Kyd is no genius to me, Bach, Mozart, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, Randy Rhoads, John Lennon, Miles Davis. There is real musicians, Kyd just put together some beats, nobody will remember him after 50 years. And nobody listens to him, other than Hitman players who are for some reason obsessed about him.

About only game released in long time, in which music is worth a positive comment is the latest Doom. But even that isn't anything groundbreaking, put on any good real metal band, and they do the same thing 10 times better.

Even Doom OST is only good in the context of game music, but not as real music. Absolution had nothing memorable happening in that section, neither did BM, or this game. It's just a background thing, like in almost every other game these days. Music is music, games are games.

True. Though Kyd knows (emphasis on the next word) relatively well how to serve a game. Which is more than lots of composers.
On a personal note, I will exclude Marcin Przybyłowicz (yeah, I had to look it up) from that statement: I recently found out I happen to really like his work! Had to put a name I can't spell nor remember on his tunes to realize that...

But yes, Schubert wrote the best Hitman score so far :steamhappy:

Now, enough of giving my opinion when nobody cares :claugh:

Nah Personally I found the music in previous Hitman games to be pretty forgettable where the soundtrack in the new game makes me feel like James Bond!

I liked the music in hitman 2. soaring symphonic score, ah those winds.

Agreed, the whole dark operatic music gave it a brooding, gothic vibe I really dig. Bring back Kyd! The game isn't finished so why couldn't they still bring him in?

"there is some Bond-esque tones to the music"

I never liked or understood this comparison.

"actual musicians"

Since when is a pianist not an "actual" musician? And just because he's not adored by milllions like the musicians you name, does this lessen his ability as a musician? Since when does popularity make you talented?

Well I'm musician then too, if playing instrument qualifies as one. Not professional though. But to be exact I meant famous and talented musicians.. all of I mentioned are musical geniuses, left their name in musical history.

Bond-esque, because the melody has same scale / chord that is in the Bond theme. Not common in pop music, gives Bond theme that mysterious sound, like something shady is going on. It's very similar, in therms of musical theory.

Of course it's matter of taste, I just find Jesper Kyd a bit overhyped. If nobody told me he didn't do music this time, I wouldn't have noticed anything.

Wait, this new Hitman has music?
I guess that's how memorable is.

I played some Hitman 2 yesterday for nostalgia sake and the first thing I noticed was how awesome the music was as I was walking towards my objective in an inconspicuos disguise.

I really hate the music in this game. I liked it at first, but then I realized it's spy music, and now I can't get the spy comparison out of my head. Do not feel like a Hitman at all, I hope they are going to go for a less Bond esque theme for Marrakesh.

Even tough I agree the past games had a amazing soundtrack,
I don't particularly dislike the soundtrack of this game,
its a bit more boring if you ask me, but that helps making the music fade into the background so you can really focus on the game world and sounds around you,
while in the past hitman games (like silent assassin 2) the music at some times started overruling the sounds around you.

Ether way, just saying, it all sounds pretty good. :Rubber_Duck:

"Just put together beats"... right.

Apparently someone's not familiar with electronic music production. Saying that someone "just used a computer to make beats" is like saying that someone is just using a guitar to make music. Actually, it's a lot easier to learn basic rock guitar and write corny "ooh baby baby" classic-rock type lyrics than it is to put together layered electronic compositions where every sound is deliberately arranged.

What this game REALLY needs is some Yngwie Malmsteen. Every time we kill a target, I wanna hear an 80s-style whammy bar guitar squeal. Then once you beat the level, you're treated to an awesome t four minute guitar solo played by some guy in a frilly white pirate shirt.

I honestly can not remember,

I do miss Ave Maria, I expect that to return later on......

The sounds feels cinematic like Absolution. Sometimes over the top, transitions are not smooth and sometimes lacks ambience.

Main issue with audio is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ America voice acting which is repeated for characters.
I guess the studio used it's staff's voices and faces for characters? then suddenly ran out of people to use.

So many faces look the same :P

From time to time I'm still listening to Kyd's music for Hitman. Not oftne, but it's the only game soundtrack I do like much enough to listen. I think it says everything
